Job summary

Rosewood Hotels and Resorts seeks a courteous Host/Hostess to greet guests, escort to tables, and help maintain restaurant readiness in a luxury setting. You will handle reservations, communicate VIP requests, and uphold Forbes and LQA standards with attention to detail and calm, professional demeanor.

Experience in luxury dining, knowledge of POS and Seven Rooms system, and ability to work with a team are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum six months experience in a similar position, preferably with a luxury or ultra-luxury restaurant.
• Education: High school diploma.
• General Skills: Must be able to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy; prioritize, organize and follow-up; be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment; follow directions thoroughly; understand a guest s service needs; work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team; work with minimal supervision; maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data.

Responsibilities

• Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies service procedures and standards
• Ensure that standards are maintained at a superior level on a daily basis
• Maintain complete knowledge of Seven Rooms Reservation System
• Schedule daily activities and in-house groups
• Daily house count
• Hotel extension numbers
• Beeper number radios carried by hotel personnel
• Hours of operation of each outlet ambiance menu selections and price range
• Features and services provided by the hotel
• Guest preference capture
• Maintain knowledge of menu items, specials, and beverage selections
• Maintain knowledge of local regulations prohibiting service to minors and intoxicated persons
• Maintain knowledge of table set-ups, dress code, and service standards
• Prepare station chart and assign stations to associates
• Set up Hostess desk and maintain cleanliness
• Report shortages to Team Leader
• Inspect condition and cleanliness of menus
• Update menus as changes occur
• Inspect restaurant environment and entrance area for standards
• Place newspapers/iPad/Press Reader for breakfast
• Inspect tables and stations to ensure proper set-ups
• Relay deficiencies to respective personnel and follow up
• Guide Servers in table set-up needs
• Answer restaurant calls courteously and efficiently
• Take reservations and cancellations
• Maintain positive guest relations and greet arrivals
• Escort guests to tables and present menus
• Anticipate guest needs and respond promptly during service
• Accommodate information requests courteously
• Communicate VIP arrivals and requests
• Handle guest complaints and ensure satisfaction
• Monitor and ensure service conformance to standards
• Notify staff for problems
• Extend courteous departures
• Ensure tables are cleaned and reset
• Complete closing duties
• Oversee restaurant operations in manager's absence
• Document information in logbook
• Operate POS and manual systems
• Maintain brand Forbes and LQA standards
• Support supervisor to ensure compliance with brand standards
• Represent the brand by applying Brand Standards
