Job summary

Wood is seeking a Lead Construction & Pre-Commissioning professional to support our Projects business on a remote site in Saudi Arabia. You will oversee construction execution plans, schedules, and method statements, while on-site monitoring contractor performance and safety compliance.

You will drive commissioning readiness, coordinate interface management among contractors, manage field changes, and ensure proper turnover of mechanical completion and punch lists.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor level in engineering or equivalent with experience.
  • 7–10 years construction experience depending on qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes and risk management.

Job Description

Wood is currently looking for Lead Construction & Pre-Commissioning to support our Projects business. The role involves contributing to the development of a new gold mine and processing facility at a remote site in Saudi Arabia.

Responsibilities
  • Review of construction execution plans, construction schedules, and method statements.
  • On-site presence to monitor construction progress, contractor performance, and compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Support in resolving technical queries, managing field changes, and updating as-built documentation. Interface management among multiple contractors and stakeholders to ensure seamless execution.
  • Oversight of mechanical completion, punch-list closure, and support during commissioning and pre-startup phases.

Qualifications
  • Typically qualified to ISCED Level 6 (Bachelors) in engineering or equivalent combination of qualifications and experience.
  • Appropriate level of construction experience in relevant industry sector, typically a minimum of 7 years of practical experience if degree qualified OR trade discipline qualified with a minimum 10 years relevant practical experience
  • Excellent technical knowledge of construction discipline and associated processes
  • Ability to identify risk to delivery, build in and implement mitigation / contingency plans
  • Expert level of experience of interpreting discipline documentation.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of Risk Assessments (RA), Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOPS) and Hazard Identification Studies (HAZIDS).
  • Expert level knowledge and understanding of technical specifications
  • Understands the business drivers within customer organizations and is able to influence these through innovative designs and cost-effective solutions.
  • Experienced in supervising and managing others, able to effectively delegate work, motivate teams and manage performance
