Job summary

Xebia in Riyadh is seeking a skilled backend Java engineer to design, build, and maintain microservices with Quarkus. You will develop REST APIs, implement caching with Redis, and ensure code quality through tests and observability tooling.

The role requires 5–8 years of experience, deep Java expertise, and a strong understanding of distributed systems in a regulated environment. Local candidates in Riyadh preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend microservices using Java and Quarkus.

Job Description-

• Design, build, and maintain backend microservices using Java and Quarkus
• Develop and consume REST/reactive APIs within a distributed microservices architecture
• Implement caching, session, and performance-sensitive logic using Redis
• Write comprehensive unit and integration tests; maintain code coverage standards using JaCoCo
• Enforce code quality and formatting standards
• Implement structured JSON logging for observability and traceability
• Participate in contract testing to ensure safe integration across services
• Collaborate using GitLab workflows - feature branching, merge requests, hotfix sequencing, and release coordination
• Contribute to and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment
• Work with Maven-based project builds
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and sprint ceremonies
• Debug and resolve production issues in a regulated banking environment, following change management protocols

What We're Looking For

• 5-8 years of professional backend development experience
• Strong hands-on experience with Java
• Experience with Quarkus or comparable frameworks (Spring Boot, Micronaut) - willingness to work in Quarkus is essential
• Solid understanding of microservices architecture patterns (service decomposition, resilience, API contracts)
• Experience with Redis or similar caching/in-memory data stores
• Familiarity with reactive programming concepts
