Job summary

Xebia in Riyadh is seeking a skilled backend Java engineer to design, build, and maintain microservices with Quarkus. You will develop REST APIs, implement caching with Redis, and ensure code quality through tests and observability tooling.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of backend development experience.
• Strong hands-on Java experience.
• Experience with Quarkus or Spring/Micronaut; willingness to work in Quarkus.
• Solid understanding of microservices patterns.
• Experience with Redis or similar caching stores.
• Familiarity with reactive programming concepts.
• Experience with unit and integration testing and code coverage tools.
• Git/GitLab branching and CI/CD pipelines experience.
• Knowledge of contract testing practices.
• Experience with Maven builds.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving in distributed systems.
• Good communication and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend microservices using Java and Quarkus.
• Develop and consume REST/reactive APIs within a distributed microservices architecture.
• Implement caching and performance-sensitive logic using Redis.
• Write unit and integration tests and maintain code coverage with JaCoCo.
• Enforce code quality, logging, and observability practices.
• Participate in contract testing for safe service integration.
• Collaborate via GitLab workflows and manage merge requests and releases.
• Contribute to and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, deploy.
• Work with Maven-based builds; participate in reviews and sprint ceremonies.
• Debug production issues in a regulated banking environment following change management.
