Job summary

Holiday Inn Riyadh Rose Yard is seeking a Health Club Lifeguard / Pool Attendant to join our Leisure team. The role focuses on guest safety, pool and health club maintenance, and delivering friendly service in line with IHG standards.

The successful candidate will hold a Lifeguard certification with CPR and First Aid, have 1–2 years in a hotel or hospitality setting, and be able to respond swiftly to emergencies while maintaining hygiene and safety across facilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma is required.
• Valid Lifeguard Certification with CPR and First Aid is mandatory.
• 1–2 years of experience as Lifeguard/Pool Attendant or similar in hotel hospitality.
• Good knowledge of pool safety procedures and emergency response.

Responsibilities

• Monitor pool and surrounding areas to ensure guest safety and enforce rules.
• Respond to emergencies with first aid, CPR, or water rescue as needed.
• Inspect pool area, water conditions, and safety equipment before and during shifts.
• Welcome guests, provide towels and amenities, and assist with inquiries about facilities.
• Maintain cleanliness of pool deck, changing rooms, showers, and lockers.
• Report maintenance issues and safety hazards promptly to engineering or management.

Job description

We are looking for a Health Club Lifeguard / Pool Attendant to join our Leisure team at Holiday Inn Riyadh Rose Yard. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment within the hotel's swimming pool and health club facilities. The role ensures guest safety, monitors pool activities, responds to emergencies when required, and provides exceptional service while maintaining the highest standards of hygiene, safety, and IHG brand requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor the swimming pool and surrounding areas to ensure the safety of all guests and enforce pool rules and safety regulations.
• Respond immediately and effectively to emergencies, providing first aid, CPR, or water rescue when required.
• Inspect the pool area, water conditions, and safety equipment before and during each shift to ensure readiness and compliance.
• Welcome guests, provide towels and amenities, and assist with inquiries regarding pool and health club facilities.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pool deck, changing rooms, showers, lockers, and surrounding leisure areas.
• Ensure pool furniture, loungers, umbrellas, and guest facilities are clean, properly arranged, and ready for use.
• Monitor towel inventory and replenish guest amenities throughout the day.
• Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, accidents, or equipment malfunctions promptly to
• Engineering or management.
• Assist in maintaining accurate records of pool inspections, incidents, chemical readings (where applicable), and daily operational checklists.
• Support the Health Club Supervisor in maintaining health, hygiene, and safety standards throughout the leisure facilities.
• Promote a friendly, professional, and guest-focused atmosphere while assisting guests with their recreational needs.
• Ensure compliance with IHG brand standards, hotel policies, and local health and safety regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Health Club Supervisor or management.
  

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Lifeguard Certification with CPR and First Aid certification is required.
• Minimum 1–2 years of experience as a Lifeguard, Pool Attendant, or in a similar role, preferably within a hotel or hospitality environment.
• Good knowledge of pool safety procedures, emergency response, and first aid practices.
• Strong guest service and interpersonal skills.
• Good communication skills in English; Arabic is an advantage.
• Ability to remain alert, professional, and calm during emergencies.
• Physically fit and able to work outdoors or in humid environments for extended periods.
• Basic knowledge of hygiene, sanitation, and recreational facility operations.
