Job summary

DHL Express in Saudi Arabia is seeking a Gateways Operations Supervisor to oversee a rostered shift, ensuring shipments enter and exit in line with procedures and transit standards. You will organize shifts, monitor performance, and drive a high-performance service culture across the team.

The role requires deep customs knowledge, leadership, and strong communication. Fluency in English is essential; Arabic is a plus. ISO initiatives and safe practices are part of the daily scope.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or related field.
• Customs broker certification or equivalent preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• Fluent in English; Arabic language is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Organize appropriate shifts and manning levels to meet business requirements.
• Ensure incoming shipments are recovered, broken bulked, inspected and cleared promptly.
• Manage receipt and lodgment of outbound shipments to ensure timely departure.
• Ensure accurate sorting and optimum loading of all inbound & outbound shipments.
• Monitor ground handler and warehouse provider performance and complete necessary reports.
• Ensure safe working practices and environment within the shift.
• Participate in gateway quality policy and ISO initiatives.
• Develop a high-performance service culture within the department and direct operations.
• Develop KPIs with team members and monitor performance.
• Consult performance appraisal and allocate resources to meet objectives.
• Identify training needs to develop a skilled department.

Overall Role Purpose

Supervise a gateway operations team on a rostered shift basis ensuring that shipments enter and exit the country in accordance with network procedures and transit time standards.

Your Tasks:

• Organize appropriate shifts and manning levels to meet business requirements.
• Ensure incoming shipments are recovered, “break bulked”, inspected and cleared in the quickest, most efficient manner possible.
• Manage receipt and lodgment of outbound shipments from country operations to ensure timely departure and uplift.
• Ensure accurate sorting and optimum loading of all inbound & outbound shipments.
• Monitor ground handler and warehouse provider performance and complete all necessary reports.
• Ensure safe working practices and environment within the shift.
• Participate in gateway quality policy and initiatives e.g. ISO.
• Develop a high-performance service culture within the functional department. Plan, organize and direct and efficient and effective functional department.
• Develop IKOs/KPIs with team members and monitor individual performance.
• Consult performance appraisal.
• Manage the allocation of appropriate resources and commitment of staff to the achievement of Global, Regional and Country objectives and targets.
• Identify training needs and opportunities to develop a highly skilled functional department.

Your Profile:
