Job summary

National Oilwell Varco is seeking a Field Service Technician to travel to customer sites (onshore and offshore) to inspect, install, commission, test, calibrate, upgrade, refurbish, and repair NOV equipment. You will respond to urgent “Rig Down” situations, perform fault finding on PLC-controlled systems, read schematics, and submit accurate service reports while maintaining QA/HSE compliance.

You will train customers and collaborate with global teams to improve equipment performance.

Qualifications

Proven working knowledge of installation, commissioning, overhaul and fault finding of heavy machinery or automated systems.
Experience with PLC or computer-controlled systems and minor software modifications.
Strong understanding of AC/DC power, VFDs, hydraulics and pneumatics.

Responsibilities

Travel to customer sites (onshore and offshore) to inspect, install, commission, test, calibrate, upgrade, refurbish, and repair NOV equipment.
Respond to emergency 'Rig Down' situations to restore equipment safely and quickly.
Perform fault finding on mechanical, electrical, PLC-driven systems and power networks.
Read and interpret drawings/schematics; update documentation and redline as required.
Prepare service reports, surveys, parts lists, and final service documentation promptly.
Provide operational analysis and field surveys with recommendations to improve performance.
Train customers on safe operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Collaborate with engineering, quality, HSE, and global teams to resolve issues.
