Job summary

LT-Larsen & Toubro seeks a Design Lead (Electrical DC) to review and execute engineering activities for Solar PV Power Plants, including generation estimate, layout, DC SLD, module selection, inverter sizing, SMB, earthing, and cable sizing calculations. Lead BIM 3D modeling and coordinate with Civil/Structural, Instrumentation, and MEP teams from pre-bid to warranty periods.

They will lead a team of design engineers and drafters to ensure on-time delivery within budget, review vendor

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech. in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics.
• 10+ years of experience in design aspects of Solar PV Power Plants/Power Distribution Projects.
• Experience in review and preparation of engineering drawings and documents.

Responsibilities

• Review and check engineering documents prepared for site execution.
• Coordinate with OEM/manufacturer engineers and civil contractors for installation.
• Coordinate with inter-departmental checks (Civil/Structural, Instrumentation, MEP).
• Lead a team of design engineers and draughtsmen to deliver drawings on time and within budget.
• Estimate and plan man-hour requirements; review BOQ and provide clarifications to contracts team.
• Ensure timely delivery of drawings and documents aligned with the project schedule.

Job description

As Design Lead (Electrical - DC), the person shall be capable of reviewing & executing Engineering Activities like Generation Estimate, Overall plant Layout, DC SLD, Solar Module selection, Inverter Sizing, SMB, Earthing Layouts, Cable Sizing Calculations of Solar PV Power Plants. He shall facilitate the modellers in development of BIM 3D Model for PV Solar Power plants. In addition, she / he has to coordinate with other departments including Inter-departmental checks covering Civil/ Structural, Instrumentation, MEP and others. The Design Lead (Electrical DC) shall be required to provide support for the engineering activities covering the full cycle of works from pre-bid engineering to support during commissioning and warranty periods and to extend support to site team. She / He shall lead a team of Design Engineers and Draughts Persons to manage the Engineering activities within budget, deliver on time and maintaining a high quality of engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review of documents prepared at Engineering office – India and explaining the same to local contractor for site execution .
• Co-Ordinating with OEM manufacture Engineer and Civil Contractor in installation and construction.
• Co-Ordinating with Uzbekistan local consultant for design adaption works.
• Timely Delivery of Engineering Drawings & Documents
• Ensure deliveries are aligned to Project Schedule
• Review drawings by Design Engineers & Draughts Persons. Checking of design & sizing calculations of engineering electrical equipment and obtaining approvals from the client
• Review of Vendor deliverables pertaining to Engineering
• Capable of Multitasking and deliver multiple things on time
• Estimate and Plan man-hour requirements
• Review BOQ and submit to contracts team and providing technical clarifications
• Coordinate with multiple disciplines for ensuring inter-departmental checks
• Provide support & clarifications to the Site Execution team
• Check pre-award evaluation of vendors (w.r.t. technical specifications requirement of the client) and forward the validation document to Supply Chain Management
• Inspect equipment from the finalized vendor after submission of validation document of the vendor
• Clarify issues w.r.t. the design & requirements of the client to the Site Execution Team
• Collect inputs for project details (plot details, feeder arrangements etc.) from client & Project Engineering Manager
• Coordinating with Operations team and informing Design specifications for obtaining approval
• Collect inputs for project details (General Arrangement Drawings) from Vendors
• Check deliverables such as Cable Routing Layout, Cable Tray Layout, Earthing Layout & Lightning Protection Layout
• Provide support to Electrical AC, Civil /Structural for reviewing Vendor drawings
• Submit requirement of man-hours for undertaking & reviewing of design & drawings of the project

Software Skills Required:

• Desirable Awareness of PVSYST, Meteonorm, SOLAR GIS, Google earth, MS OFFICE

Technical Expertise:

• The Design Lead (Electrical DC) is required to have an overall knowledge of equipment layouts and necessary calculations.
• The Design Lead (Electrical DC) should also have detailed knowledge of Solar PV Power Plants. She / he should have the understanding of engineering activities covering Generation Estimate, Overall plant Layout, DC SLD, Solar Module selection, Inverter Sizing, SMB, Earthing Layouts, Cable Sizing Calculations of Solar PV Power Plants. The Design Lead (Electrical DC) is required to have knowledge on National and International Codes and Standards.
• The Design Lead (Electrical DC) is required to understand and interpret the contractual technical requirements and facilitate the Project Teams as and when required.
• In addition, the Design Lead (Electrical DC) should also have an overall understanding of the inter-disciplinary (Civil & Structural, Mechanical and Instrumentation) design aspects of electrical equipment.
