Job summary

Larsen & Toubro in Saudi Arabia is seeking a Design Lead (Instrumentation) to review and execute engineering activities for instrumentation and automation of Solar PV power plants.

The role includes leading a team of design engineers and drafters, coordinating with Civil/Structural, Electrical, MEP, and other departments, and supporting the full project cycle from pre-bid to commissioning and warranty periods.

Qualifications

• BE Electronics Instrumentation Engineering or ICE/Instrumentation and Control Engineering.
• M.Tech in Instrumentation or Automation is acceptable.
• 10–15 years of design experience in Solar PV Power Plants or Power Distribution projects.

Responsibilities

• Timely delivery of drawings and documents.
• Ensure deliveries are aligned to project schedule.
• Review drawings by Design Engineers & Draughts Persons. Check design & sizing calculations and obtain client approvals.
• Review vendor deliverables pertaining to engineering.
• Capable of multitasking and delivering multiple items on time.
• Estimate and plan man-hour requirements.
• Review BOQ and submit to contracts team; provide technical clarifications.
• Coordinate with multiple disciplines for inter-departmental checks.
• Provide support and clarifications to the Site Execution team.
• Check pre-award vendor evaluations and forward validation to Supply Chain.
• Inspect equipment from finalized vendors after validation.
• Clarify design & requirements to Site Execution Team.
• Collect inputs for project details from client & Project Engineering Manager.
• Coordinate with Operations and define design specs for approvals.
• Collect inputs for project details from Vendors (General Arrangement Drawings).

Job description

As Design Lead (Instrumentation), the person shall be capable of reviewing & executing Engineering Activities of instrumentation /Automation of Solar PV Power Plants. He shall facilitate the modellers in development of BIM 3D Model for PV Solar Power plants. In addition, she / he has to coordinate with other departments including Inter-departmental checks covering Civil/ Structural, Electrical, MEP and others. The Design Lead (Instrumentation) shall be required to provide support for the engineering activities covering the full cycle of works from pre-bid engineering to support during commissioning and warranty periods and to extend support to site team. She / He shall lead a team of Design Engineers and Draughts Persons to manage the Engineering activities within budget, deliver on time and maintaining a high quality of engineering.

• Coordinating with Operations team and informing Design specifications for obtaining approval
• Collect inputs for project details (General Arrangement Drawings) from Vendors

Software Skills Required

• General awareness of SCADA Programming software(Preferable) and MS Office.

Technical Expertise

• The Design Lead (Instrumentation) is required to have an overall knowledge of equipment
• layouts and necessary calculations. Expertise in PLC/SCADA system, Met station system,
• cable selections, Telecom, CCTV systems, ACS (Access Control system), System Integration,
• third party equipment integration system. Well versed in all the protocols of communication
• systems, Tracker control system. He / She is also required to have knowledge in Electrical and
• Mechanical Equipment.

Qualification & Experience

• BE Electronics Instrumentation Engineering / ICE (Instrumentation and Control Engineering) or M. Tech. (Instrumentation or Automation)
• 10-15 years (Must have experience in design aspects of Solar PV Power Plants / Power Distribution Projects)
