• Able to work outdoors in heat and handle manual tasks.
• Knowledge of hydraulic systems and conveyors is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Operate primary gyratory and secondary cone crushers to meet throughput and particle size targets.
• Apply lockout/tagout procedures before maintenance or clearing activities.
• Conduct daily visual inspections of crushers, liners, mantles and belts; report wear.
• Log hourly tonnage, downtime, and parameters in control system for analysis.
• Clear blockages safely using proper tools and follow permit-to-work for confined spaces.
• Maintain clean work areas and operate dust suppression to meet environmental standards.
• Provide detailed shift handovers to the next Operator on equipment status.
• Assist maintenance during liner changes and major repairs with proper energy isolation.
• Meet safety, reliability and production metrics as described by supervisors.

Key Responsibilities

Crushing Circuit Operation

The role operates primary gyratory and secondary cone crushers to achieve target throughput and particle size distribution. This includes adjusting closed-side settings and monitoring power draw to prevent chamber choking.

Safety Protocol Execution

This position applies lockout tagout procedures before any maintenance or clearing activity to ensure personal safety. The operator identifies and mitigates hazards such as moving machinery high noise levels and dust exposure.

Equipment Inspection

The role conducts daily visual inspections of crusher liners mantles and conveyor belts to detect wear. It involves reporting defective components to maintenance teams to prevent unplanned equipment failures.

Production Data Logging

This position records hourly tonnage downtime reasons and operational parameters in the plant control system. Accurate data entry supports production analysis and maintenance planning efforts.

Blockage Clearance

The role safely clears tramp metal and bridged material from feed hoppers and crusher chambers. It requires using appropriate tools and following permit-to-work guidelines for confined spaces if necessary.

Housekeeping Standards

This position maintains a clean work area by removing spilled ore and debris from walkways and equipment bases. It includes operating dust suppression systems to meet environmental compliance requirements.

Shift Handover Communication

The role provides detailed verbal and written handovers to incoming shift Operator regarding equipment status. This ensures continuity of operations and awareness of any outstanding issues or hazards.

Maintenance Support

This position assists maintenance technicians during liner changes and major repairs by isolating energy sources. It involves preparing the work area and ensuring all safety permits are in place.

Success Metrics

• Zero safety violations or recordable incidents during the evaluation period
• Crusher availability rate maintained above 95 through proactive reporting
• Daily tonnage targets met consistently within specified particle size ranges
• Accurate and timely completion of all shift logs and production reports
• Effective clearance of blockages with minimal impact on overall plant uptime
• Full compliance with housekeeping and dust control standards at all times
• Successful completion of all required technical competency assessments

Qualifications
