Job summary

Bechtel Corporation in Riyadh seeks a project controls professional to support cost estimating, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting for one of the GCC airport programs. You will help implement cost standards, allocate budgets, and develop unit rates for multiple disciplines.

The role requires solid experience in project controls, familiarity with procurement, invoicing, and month-end processes, and willingness to work in a demanding, fast-paced environment on a landmark development

Qualifications

• Requires bachelor's degree and 2–5 years of relevant experience or 6–9 years of relevant work experience.
• Experience in client representation or PM/CM roles is preferred.
• Knowledge of financial reporting, project accounting, and cost control processes.

• Performs routine cost estimating, analysis, and control activities as directed.

Project Overview

Bechtel has been involved over the last 80 years in some of the world’s busiest and most complex airport projects, including Greenfield and Brownfield developments. In the GCC, we have held significant roles on King Khalid, King Fahad, Dubai, Hamad, and Muscat international airports.

Saudi Arabian Bechtel Company has been appointed to provide project management consultancy services (including technical, commercial, and construction management) for the development of a state of the art international airport in the city of Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

King Salman International Airport will have a capacity of up to 120 million travellers by 2030 and 185 million travellers by 2050, and the capacity to process up to 3.5 million tons of cargo by 2050. Bechtel will provide PMC services for three new terminals; Terminal 6 is a new build ‘low cost carrier’ – hyper efficient terminal with gross floor area of ≈450,000m2, capacity of 20mppa; Iconic Terminal is a new build ‘new concept’ terminal with gross floor area of ≈ 1M m2, capacity of 40 to 45 mppa, and Private Aviation Terminal and hangars for VIPs and business jet passengers.

Job Summary

In this role, you will support the finance and routine cost estimating, analysis, control activities, support the implementation of cost monitoring and control standards, preparation of cost data, the project trend program. You will also assist with budget allocation and developing quantity takeoffs, project codes, and application unit rates. Your work will help ensure projects stay on budget and excel.

Major Responsibilities

• Performs routine cost estimating, analysis, and control activities, as directed
• Supports the implementation of cost monitoring and control standards, techniques, systems, and reports
• Assists with budget allocation and reporting/cost control for specific construction discipline or group of disciplines
• Supports the preparation of cost data for proposals or contracts
• Assists in the development of quantity takeoffs for a specific discipline or specialty
• Assists in developing specific project codes of accounts and recommends appropriate modifications and revisions
• Supports the project trend program
• Assists in the development and application of unit rates (cost and job hours) to quantity takeoffs
• Supports project accounting activities, including cost tracking, general ledger, and sub-job financial management, ensuring accuracy and data integrity.
• Supports monthly close, forecasting, and financial reporting, including required variance analysis.
• Supports the preparation and review of client invoices to ensure compliance with contract terms and supporting documentation requirements.
• Reviews and processes vendor invoices to ensure proper cost coding and alignment with project budgets and commitments.
• Monitors, reviews, and reconciles key accounts, including accruals, receivables, and unbilled costs, and resolves variances in a timely manner.

Education And Experience Requirements

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge And Skills

• Prior experience working as client representation or in PM/CM role preferred.
• Proficiency with multiple discipline specific software applications currently used in Bechtel (PC Works or Primavera and Microsoft Office Applications, for example).
• Proficiency with PC operating systems, with proficiency in several basic software applications.
• Knowledge of financial reporting systems and controller account codes, and understanding of Controller instructions, which impact Project Controls (including Project Financial Status Reports and Earned Revenue Determination Data).
• Intermediate level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup work processes, as performed by Bechtel.
• Knowledge of engineering and construction management customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.
• Prior Middle-East work experience preferred.
• Ability to work to deadlines and under pressure.
• Knowledge of project accounting, including job cost, commitments, and sub job structures
• Understanding of month-end close, reporting, and reconciliations
• Experience with billing and unbilled cost tracking
• Familiarity with accounts payable and P2P processes
• Ability to analyze financial data and resolve discrepancies
