Job summary

Acwa China seeks a Shift Operator/Charge Engineer to monitor unit parameters, coordinate with operators, and ensure safe daily operations. The role emphasizes safety, P&ID familiarity, log-keeping, and timely action during abnormal conditions.

Candidates should have a Diploma in Engineering (Bachelor preferred) and at least five years of hands-on plant experience, with strong knowledge of safety, emissions, firefighting, and environmental practices.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Comply with safety rules and regulations.
• Be familiar with the fire equipment in his area.
• Familiar with plant P&IDs, SOPs, work instructions and emergency operation procedures.
• Monitor unit parameters and enter periodic readings on log sheets.
• Summarize shift activities in the log book.
• Follow Shift Engineer/Supervisor instructions and coordinate with other Operators.
• Be alert and take quick actions during abnormal conditions.
• Coordinate and ensure Lock Out & Tag Out during maintenance per Permit To Work.
• Normalize equipment after cancellation when instructed.
• Inspect unit and auxiliaries to ensure parameters are within limits.
• Report abnormalities to Shift Supervisor / SCE.
• Perform periodic protection tests under supervision and maintain records.
• Perform equipment change over per preset schedules.
• Raise work requests or defect notes and follow up for rectification.
• Assist in training and familiarization of new operators.
• Report near misses and implement risk controls.
• Report deviations in QHSE and EMS.
• Ensure proper waste disposal measures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Reporting To: Shift Supervisor / Shift Charge Engineer

Job Summary

Monitor and control of the Unit/plant Operation parameters and coordinate with the other Operators in regard to all related activities that affect operation.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Comply with safety rules and regulations.
• Be familiar with the fire equipment in his area.
• Familiar with plant P&IDs, SOPs, Work instructions, Operation and control logics as well as the emergency operation procedures and any other related documents.
• Monitor all parameters of the unit and enter periodic readings on log sheets.
• Summarize all activities/events that took place during his shift in the log book.
• Follow the instructions of the Shift Charge Engineer and Shift Supervisor and coordinate with other Operators in regard to all activities.
• Be alert and take quick actions during abnormal operating conditions.
• Coordinate and ensure Lock Out & Tag Out during the isolation of equipment for maintenance as per the approved Permit To Work procedure.
• Normalize the equipment after cancellation when instructed to do so.
• Inspect the unit and auxiliaries during the shift to make sure that all equipment parameters are within limits.
• Report abnormalities to the Shift Supervisor / SCE.
• Perform the periodic protection tests under the supervision of SCE/Supervisor and maintain records.
• Perform equipment change over according to preset schedules.
• Raise work requests or defect notes for faulty equipment and follow up for the defect rectification.
• Assist in the training and familiarization of new operators.
• Report near misses and implement prescribed risk controls.
• Report deviations in Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental Management System.
• Ensure proper waste disposal measures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Specifications

• Desired: Diploma in Engineering is a must.
• Preferred: Bachelor of Engineering.

Minimum Experience

Minimum: 5 years in the same position.

• Generic awareness of Quality, Occupational Health & Safety and Environment Management system principles
• Knowledge of identification, classification and disposal of waste

• Knowledge of environmental and health impact of chemicals being used in the plant
