Role Context

The Consultant Plastic Surgeon will manage patients throughout the full surgical care pathway, beginning with specialist consultation and clinical assessment and progressing through diagnosis, procedure selection, operative treatment, postoperative monitoring, and follow-up. The Consultant will also work closely with anesthesia, nursing, operating theatre, and other medical teams when cases require coordinated multidisciplinary management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct detailed consultations and assess patients requiring plastic or reconstructive surgical care.
  • Review relevant medical histories, clinical findings, and diagnostic information.
  • Establish appropriate diagnoses and determine suitable treatment options.
  • Develop individualized surgical treatment plans based on clinical needs.
  • Evaluate patient suitability for plastic, reconstructive, and related procedures.
  • Explain proposed procedures, treatment expectations, possible risks, and recovery requirements.
  • Perform plastic, reconstructive, and related surgical procedures within the approved scope of specialist practice.
  • Coordinate appropriate investigations and clinical preparation before surgery.
  • Provide comprehensive pre-operative assessment and patient guidance.
  • Deliver appropriate postoperative care and monitor recovery progress.
  • Conduct follow-up consultations to assess healing and treatment outcomes.
  • Identify postoperative complications or concerns requiring clinical intervention.
  • Modify treatment or recovery plans when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate consultation notes, operative reports, treatment records, and follow-up documentation.
  • Protect patient confidentiality and comply with professional medical standards.
