Job summary

TRACTEBEL ENGINEERING S.A DUBAI BRANCH is seeking a senior electrical engineering professional to lead design and technical reviews for HV/EHV substations and power transmission projects in Saudi Arabia. You will evaluate equipment specifications, prepare reports, and ensure compliance with IEC/IEEE standards while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.

• 15+ years of relevant experience in electrical engineering.

Job description

Responsibilities

Lead and perform strong design and technical reviews strong of electrical equipment and systems for HV EHV substation and power transmission projects Review electrical equipment specifications datasheets drawings calculations and technical documentation Provide technical expertise for the selection sizing specification and integration of electrical equipment Review and assess the design of Power TransformersGIS AIS SubstationsCircuit BreakersSurge ArrestersDisconnectorsLoad Break SwitchesCTs PTsPost InsulatorsWall BushingsReview and provide technical input on strong grounding earthing systems strong and lightning protection systems Review strong AC DC auxiliary systems strong including UPS systems batteries and battery chargers Review HV MV LV cable selection sizing routing requirements and technical specifications Verify equipment ratings and ensure compatibility with system requirements and project specifications Review electrical equipment layouts single-line diagrams schematics and engineering drawings Evaluate vendor technical submissions drawings calculations datasheets and compliance documents Ensure equipment specifications comply with applicable strong IEC IEEE and project-specific standards strong Identify technical deviations design risks and interface issues and recommend appropriate engineering solutions Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams clients consultants manufacturers and suppliers Provide technical support during design development procurement manufacturing testing installation and commissioning activities where required Prepare and review technical reports specifications calculations equipment schedules and other engineering deliverables Support technical clarification meetings and respond to client and project-related engineering queries Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and engineering team members Ensure all engineering deliverables meet project quality requirements technical specifications and applicable standards

Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering / Electrical & Electronics Engineering or equivalent qualification from a reputed university.
• A Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering / Power Systems will be an advantage.

Experience

Minimum 15 years of relevant professional experience in electrical engineering.

Extensive experience in the design and technical review of electrical equipment for HV/EHV substations, power transmission, or similar projects.

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of HV/EHV electrical equipment and substation engineering.
• Good understanding of equipment ratings, selection, sizing, and integration.
• Knowledge of electrical protection, insulation coordination, grounding, and lightning protection principles.
• Proficiency in relevant electrical engineering software and design/drawing tools.
• Ability to interpret and review Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), electrical schematics, equipment layouts, and technical drawings.
• Good knowledge of applicable IEC/IEEE standards and international engineering practices.
• Strong understanding of electrical equipment specifications and technical documentation.
• Ability to review and evaluate vendor technical offers and documentation.
