Job summary

Libera Consultants is seeking an experienced Barge Engineer for offshore Jack-Up drilling operations in Saudi Arabia. You will focus on safe rig moves, jacking, ballast management and stability control while advising the OIM on marine and operational matters.

The role requires strong leadership, extensive offshore experience and familiarity with multiple Jack-Up designs. You will work within a safety-conscious, offshore team environment with strict regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years offshore marine experience with Jack-Up rigs.
• Proven experience in multiple Jack-Up rig moves.
• Hands-on experience with jacking, preloading, ballast and stability operations.
• Strong understanding of Jack-Up stability and marine operations.
• Experience with different Jack-Up rig designs/types desirable.
• Strong offshore safety awareness and knowledge of marine regulations.
• Proven leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Managing and supporting Jack-Up rig moves including positioning, preloading and jacking operations.
• Overseeing the safe jacking up and lowering of the rig.
• Monitoring and maintaining rig stability, ballast, weight distribution and load control.
• Advising the OIM on marine and operational matters affecting safety or drilling.
• Monitoring weather and environmental conditions during marine activities.
• Ensuring marine equipment and systems remain operational and compliant.
• Maintaining stability, ballast, loading and marine operational records.
• Ensuring compliance with Flag State, Classification Society and company safety requirements.
• Supporting emergency preparedness, drills and offshore marine safety activities.

Job description

One of our key clients, a leading drilling contractor in Saudi Arabia, is looking to hire an experienced Barge Engineer to join their offshore Jack-Up drilling operations.

This is a senior marine position responsible for supporting the safe and efficient operation of the rig, with particular focus on rig moves, jacking operations, stability, ballast and load distribution. Our client is a well-established drilling contractor in the region, known for its strong safety culture, modern fleet and long-term offshore operations.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Managing and supporting Jack-Up rig moves, including positioning, preloading and jacking operations
• Overseeing the safe jacking up and lowering of the rig
• Monitoring and maintaining rig stability, ballast, load distribution and weight control
• Advising the OIM on marine, stability and operational matters that could impact rig safety or drilling operations
• Monitoring weather and environmental conditions during marine and rig-move activities
• Ensuring marine equipment and systems remain operationally ready and compliant
• Maintaining required stability, ballast, loading and marine operational records
• Ensuring compliance with applicable Flag State, Classification Society, statutory and company safety requirements
• Supporting emergency preparedness, drills and offshore marine safety activities

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years' relevant offshore marine experience, with strong experience as a Barge Engineer on Jack-Up drilling rigs
• Proven experience participating in and/or managing multiple Jack-Up rig moves
• Hands-on experience with jacking, preloading, ballast and stability operations
• Strong understanding of Jack-Up rig stability, weight distribution and marine operations
• Experience working across different Jack-Up rig designs/types is highly desirable
• Strong offshore safety awareness and knowledge of relevant marine regulations
• Proven leadership and communication skills

Certifications Required:

• Valid and relevant Certificate of Competency (COC)
• Relevant offshore/STCW certifications as required
• All certifications must be valid and internationally recognised
