Job summary

Saipem Qatar seeks a Pre-commissioning Engineer to join the Subsea Pre-commissioning Engineering Department. You will respond to the Pre-commissioning Manager and support QA/QC, HSE, and project schedules for offshore pipelines and related systems.

Responsibilities include maintaining technical integrity, drawing up schedules, identifying issues, approving designs, coordinating with offshore teams, and ensuring completion within budget and deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Offshore, or Pipeline Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 8 years of offshore subsea pipeline pre-commissioning experience with 3+ years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for technical integrity and compliance with estimated costs and deadlines across engineering phases.
  • Perform engineering tasks to guarantee quality of methods requirements.
  • Report to Offshore Method Lead and draw up general engineering schedules as per contract.
  • Identify technical problems and make decisions within contractual requirements.
  • Define tasks and subtasks, or supervise their drafting as needed.
  • Define materials/services to be purchased within budget with direct responsibility.
  • Approve all technical designs for purchase/construction for client delivery.
  • Participate in meetings and audits with the Client on technical designs.
  • Cost/scheduling decisions must be approved by the Project Engineer and communicated to management.
  • Notify responsible parties and Project Manager of issues in other engineering areas.
  • Perform verifications and calculations for methodology and oversee drafting of the methodology.
  • Summarise methodology activities in a manual and transfer useful data from analyses.
  • Ensure operation teams receive reports, manuals, and drawings.
  • Coordinate offshore follow-up activities at construction sites.
  • Adjust depth of activities for project or bid support.
  • Participate in offshore activities as field engineer when required.
  • Verify equipment and materials.

Purpose of the position:

As Pre-commissioning Engineer, you will respond to the Pre-commissioning Manager and be part of Saipem Qatar within Subsea Pre-commissioning Engineering Department.

How can you support us? Here below your responsibilities:

Mission.

  • Be responsible for technical integrity and compliance with estimated costs and deadlines throughout the various engineering phases of the project
  • Perform directly engineering tasks to guarantee the quality of the product for methods requirements

Tasks.

The Engineer executes the activities within his area of responsibility, ensuring the compliance with the QA/QC and HSE requirements

Tasks include:
  • The Engineer executes the activities within own area of responsibility, ensuring the compliance with the QA/QC and HSE requirements
  • Report to Offshore Method Lead
  • Draw up a general engineering schedule as stipulated by the contract to be revised by the Project
  • Identify technical problems and make the necessary technical decisions within the limitations imposed by contractual requirements
  • Draw up definitions and detailed specifications of tasks and sub-tasks or supervise their drafting by other resources if requested
  • Define the materials or services to be purchased for engineering tasks within the allocated resource budget, in conjunction with own direct responsible
  • Approve all the technical design necessary for the purchase and/or construction of products to be supplied to the Client
  • Participate to meetings to examine and, if necessary, audit the technical design, and take part in technical examinations with the Client.
  • Cost and scheduling decisions which influence contractual obligations or other functions must be approved by the Project Engineer (if any) and communicated to the Engineering Manager and Project Manager
  • Notify own direct responsible and the Project Manager of any problems occurring with any other engineering areas
  • Perform all the engineering verifications and calculations necessary for the methodology to be implemented
  • Supervise and verify the drafting describing the methodology to be implemented
  • Summarise and clarify in a manual all methodology activities, clearly identifying the show stoppers (if any). Transfer inside the manual all useful data derived by analyses performed by others
  • Ensure that the operation people on board of the vessel receive all useful data in form of reports, manuals, drawings
  • Follow up activities offshore or in any construction place deemed necessary by the project
  • All the above activities could be performed with different level of deepness for Project or Bid assistance performance
  • Participation to the offshore activities with the role of field engineer, when requested both in the yards and offshore during the vessel operation campaign
  • Be responsible to verify equipment and materials
What are we looking for?
  • Education: Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Offshore, or Pipeline Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Background: Minimum 8 years of offshore subsea pipeline pre-commissioning experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Languages: Strong communication skills in English.
Technical Skills / Knowledge with:
  • EPC Experience
  • Company Processes and Procedures
  • Project Management Tools & Methodologies
  • In-depth knowledge of DNV-ST-F101, API standards, and other relevant international codes.
  • Strong technical understanding of pre-commissioning equipment (suction pumps, flooding pumps, chemical injection units, compressors, air dryers).
  • Proven ability to manage large teams (30+ personnel) during pre-commissioning phases.
  • Familiarity with QE LNG project specifications and offshore operating practices highly preferred.
IT Skills:
  • Office package (including Microsoft Project)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
