Job summary

IMAR Trading & Contracting is seeking an IT Support Engineer to deliver robust technical support, systems administration, and network engineering across Doha HQ and active construction sites. You will manage Windows and Linux servers, AD/365 services, and VPN connectivity to maintain high availability and cyber resilience.

The role requires 5+ years of enterprise IT experience, hands-on firewall expertise (Fortinet/Cisco/Palo Alto), and strong networking skills to support field projects and data

Qualifications

As an IT Support Engineer at IMAR Trading & Contracting, you will deliver robust technical support, systems administration, and network engineering across corporate headquarters and active construction project sites in Doha, Qatar. Operating within a fast-paced, multi-site engineering environment, this critical role ensures high availability, operational integrity, and cyber resilience across all end-user endpoints, enterprise servers, and project infrastructure. You will serve as the frontline technical lead managing IT operations, troubleshooting complex infrastructure challenges, and maintaining seamless connectivity between field project offices and core enterprise systems.

Detailed Job Description

The IT Support Engineer is responsible for the end-to-end administration, deployment, and operational maintenance of enterprise IT systems, local area networks, and construction site infrastructure. You will manage Windows and Linux server platforms, Active Directory services, corporate messaging platforms, and role-based identity access governance. Your day-to-day duties involve providing rapid Tier-2 and Tier-3 technical support for office personnel and site-based project engineers, diagnosing system bottlenecks, and optimizing hardware, software, and application performance.

In this infrastructure-focused capacity, you will configure and maintain Layer 2 and Layer 3 switches, VLAN segmentations, enterprise routers, and secure site-to-site and remote access VPN tunnels connecting remote construction yards to the central data center. You will implement and harden next-generation firewall policies (utilizing Fortinet, Cisco, or Palo Alto networks), enforce cybersecurity controls, and monitor system backups. Additionally, you will support construction project management applications, ERP solutions, and document management systems, while maintaining comprehensive asset inventories, IT standard operating procedures, and compliance standards across all operational facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive day-to-day Tier-1 through Tier-3 IT support for corporate office staff and on-site construction project teams.
• Install, configure, optimize, and maintain enterprise servers, physical workstations, mobile endpoints, and peripheral network hardware.
• Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot LAN/WAN network infrastructure, VLAN segmentations, routing protocols, and managed core/edge switches.
• Deploy, harden, and manage next-generation perimeter firewalls (such as Fortinet FortiGate, Cisco, or Palo Alto Networks) and security appliances.
• Establish, configure, and maintain secure IPSec site-to-site VPN tunnels and SSL remote access VPN solutions for distributed project sites.
• Administer Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), Office 365 / Microsoft 365 services, enterprise email systems, and access credentials.
• Provide dedicated technical support and operational administration for enterprise ERP systems, project management platforms, and engineering software.
• Conduct routine data backups, test disaster recovery procedures, and apply security patches across server operating systems and client devices.
• Perform on-site field visits across construction project locations to resolve complex network, hardware, and communications infrastructure outages.
• Maintain rigorous IT asset inventories, licensing documentation, network topology diagrams, and technical standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
• Minimum of 5+ years of progressive professional experience in IT support, systems administration, and enterprise infrastructure management.
• Strong practical expertise in configuring and troubleshooting enterprise networking technologies, including LAN, WAN, VLANs, switching, and routing.
• Hands-on experience deploying and administering enterprise firewalls (Fortinet FortiGate, Cisco ASA/Firepower, or Palo Alto Networks).
• Proven technical competency in implementing and maintaining site-to-site IPsec VPNs and client-to-site remote access VPN connections.
• In-depth systems administration experience across Windows Server environments, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Microsoft 365 cloud suites.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage technical escalations, and provide hands-on, on-site technical support across field project sites.
• Solid foundation in IT cybersecurity best practices, endpoint protection, antivirus deployment, and enterprise data backup solutions.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Industry-standard networking and infrastructure certifications, specifically Cisco CCNA, Cisco CCNP, or CompTIA Network+/Security+.
• Direct IT engineering or infrastructure support experience within the construction, civil engineering, contracting, or real estate development sectors.
• Working experience with construction ERP platforms, project scheduling software, and engineering CAD/BIM collaboration applications.
• Exposure to virtualization platforms, including VMware vSphere ESXi or Microsoft Hyper-V environments.
• Valid Qatar Driving License facilitating independent transportation to active construction sites and field project offices.
