Job summary

Mandarin Oriental Doha is seeking an Assistant Purchasing Manager who supports the Director of Purchasing Management and Purchasing Manager in all purchasing functions. The role coordinates purchasing requirements, ensures best prices, and supervises Purchasing Officers and buyers to guarantee smooth operation of the department.

You will build strong cross‑department relationships, lead cost‑control efforts, and drive sourcing excellence in a luxury hotel environment.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Degree in Hotel Management and/or Accounting or equivalent.
• Diploma/degree in Purchasing/Procurement Management.
• Minimum 2 years experience in a purchasing environment in a similar capacity within a 5-star hotel.
• Minimum 2 years experience in Cost Control.
• Excellent knowledge of various Procurement/Purchasing Software (preferably Check SCM).
• Good verbal and written skills in English.
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, mainly Excel.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a good relationship with all departments and Corporate Purchasing.
• Supervise, train, and motivate Materials Management department colleagues, ensuring they understand their duties and responsibilities.
• Negotiate cost‑effective purchases for supplies, services, Capex, and FF&E items while meeting MOHG guidelines and quality specifications.
• Generate purchase orders on approved requisitions and obtain necessary authorizations from the Director of Finance and General Manager before processing.
• Obtain competitive price quotations, confirm purchase availabilities, and source suppliers.
• Assist in contract negotiations.
• Ensure sufficient supplies for all inventoried items in each department by coordinating regular inventories with Stores.
• Document all items received by the hotel in accordance with company purchasing and receiving procedures.
