Job summary

Mandarin Oriental, Doha is seeking an Assistant Purchasing Manager to support the Director of Purchasing Management and Purchasing Manager in all purchasing activities for the luxury hotel. You will supervise buyers, negotiate cost-effective purchases, and ensure compliance with MOHG guidelines while maintaining optimal inventory levels.

The role requires a Diploma/Degree in hotel management or accounting with at least 2 years in a purchasing environment in a 5-star hotel, strong English

Qualifications

• Diploma/Degree in hotel management and/or accounting or equivalent in purchasing/ procurement management.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in purchasing in a 5-star hotel environment.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in cost control.
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, mainly Excel.

Responsibilities

• Maintain good relationship with all departments and Corporate Purchasing.
• Supervise, train and motivate Materials Management department colleagues.
• Negotiate cost effective purchases for all supplies and services.
• Negotiate cost effective purchases for Capex and FF&E items.
• Generate purchase orders on approved requisitions with necessary authorisation.
• Obtain competitive price quotations and confirm purchase availabilities.
• Assist in contract negotiations.
• Ensure sufficient supplies by coordinating inventories with Stores.
• Ensure items received are documented per procedures.
