Clan is seeking a Telecom Engineer Consultant to join its Telecom Engineering Center of Excellence in Porto or Lisbon. You will bridge network engineering with business strategy, advising Tier 1 carriers across Europe on transformation programs.

Responsibilities include leading telecom consultancy projects, designing end-to-end network solutions, coordinating activities, and mentoring junior staff while maintaining client-facing autonomy.

Job description

On behalf of a world-leading professional services firm and international Tech Hub, Clan is seeking a Telecom Engineer Consultant with a strong advisory mindset, technical breadth, and excellent client-facing skills to join their Telecom Engineering Center of Excellence (CoE) in Porto or Lisbon.

In this role, you will bridge the gap between complex network engineering and high-level business strategy, acting as a key advisor in large‑scale transformation programs for Tier 1 Telecom Carriers across Europe.

Key Responsibilities:

• To participate actively in telecom network consultancy projects (mobile and fixed), focusing on transformation and strategic initiatives.
• To contribute to the design, planning, and implementation of end‑to‑end network solutions, ensuring a cross‑functional approach that aligns technical capabilities with business objectives.
• To plan, coordinate, and execute project activities with autonomy to ensure the timely delivery of key outputs.
• To collaborate with stakeholders and technical teams to identify requirements, define solutions, and coordinate implementation activities.
• To manage relationships with clients and key stakeholders within your scope of action.
• To support and mentor junior team members in project deliverables while maintaining full autonomy in client‑facing environments.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Higher Education degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or similar.
• At least 4 years of experience in the design, management, and/or implementation of mobile or fixed telecommunications networks.
• Experience in network architecture, implementation, or operation, with participation in projects covering at least one of the following domains:
• Radio Access Networks (RAN)
• Mobile Core (EPC and 5G Core)
• Transport Networks (Backhaul, Aggregation, and Core)
• Edge Infrastructure and Telco Cloud
• Operations Support Systems (OSS) and network orchestration solutions
• Internet of Things (IoT) platforms and solutions
• Methodologies & Frameworks (Value-Add):
• Virtualization/containerization of network functions (VNF/CNF) and lifecycle management.
• Project management frameworks (PMP, PRINCE2).
• Telecom process and infrastructure management frameworks (ITIL, eTOM, ONAP, CAMARA APIs, etc.).
• Technical or Cloud certifications (e.g., Nokia, Ericsson, Red Hat, AWS, GCP).
• Soft Skills & Mindset:
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, essential for client‑facing consultancy.
• Strong team‑working abilities, collaboration skills, and a proven track record of building trust with clients and peers.
• Critical thinking, analytical capabilities, and structured problem‑solving skills.
• High level of organization, planning, quality orientation, and personal autonomy.
• Languages & Mobility:
• Fluency in English and Portuguese (written and spoken) is required; knowledge of a third language is highly valued.
• Availability to participate in international projects.
