Sovos is hiring a Software Engineer II in Portugal to help build the next generation of tax compliance software. You will work across teams to develop, test, and deliver software that meets functional and non-functional requirements while growing expertise in areas such as databases, web development, or SAP integration.

You'll collaborate with product owners, QA, UX, and other engineers, applying TDD and CI practices and leveraging AI-assisted tools to improve code quality and delivery speed.

Qualificações

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, and/or equivalent experience with 1–3 years in software development
• Fluency in Portuguese and English is required.
• You've built solid experience developing software, with hands-on skills in Node.js/JavaScript and React.
• Experience working with relational databases such as MySQL or similar technologies.
• You can comprehend and communicate complex technical concepts effectively with teammates, colleagues, and customers.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows and comfort using AI tools to support coding, testing, and problem-solving.
• Nice to have: Experience with Java, XML/XSD, Cypress or other end-to-end testing frameworks, TypeScript, and RESTful API design.
• Due to client contractual obligations, the successful candidate will be asked to clear a background check upon hire.

Responsabilidades

• Participate actively in the full software development lifecycle, including planning, stand-ups, story refinement, and delivery.
• Develop and maintain software using test-driven development (TDD) and continuous integration (CI) practices, leveraging AI-assisted tools to improve code quality and efficiency.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Product Owners, Quality Assurance, Experience Design, and other technical teams to refine requirements and deliver solutions from inception through customer delivery.
• Write clean, maintainable code consistent with Sovos coding standards and conventions, building expertise in at least one technical area such as databases, web development, or SAP integration.
• Work alongside senior developers to solve complex problems, improve processes and standards, and maintain relevant documentation as you develop.
