Sovos is seeking a Tech Lead for TechOps & Infrastructure Product Development in Portugal to guide cloud-native infrastructure and platform reliability. You will mentor engineers, shape SRE practices, and drive scalable, secure systems across a global compliance network.

Ideal candidates bring hands-on DevOps/SRE leadership, cloud-native architecture expertise, and strong IaC skills using Terraform, CDK, and AWS. The role emphasizes collaboration, reliability, and AI-assisted automation.

Qualificações

• Equivalent of a Bachelor's degree through work experience, certificates, or formal education.
• Hands-on experience in DevOps, SRE, Systems Administration, or Cloud Infrastructure with leadership.
• Experience in cloud-native architectures and troubleshooting distributed systems.
• Infrastructure-as-Code proficiency and cloud environment management (AWS).

Responsabilidades

• Mentor and coach SREs and infrastructure engineers.
• Partner with software teams to define SLIs, SLOs, and operational standards.
• Lead design, provisioning, scaling, and deployment of cloud infra, Kubernetes clusters, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Advocate for IaC practices and robust observability; review deployment manifests and architecture proposals.
• Define infrastructure specifications, disaster recovery plans, and runbooks.
• Integrate reliability practices, automated infra testing, and incident response processes.
• Leverage AI tools to improve automation workflows and incident analysis.

The Role

At Sovos, we're building the next generation of tax compliance infrastructure, and we need experienced technical leaders who can drive both architectural excellence and team growth. As a Technical Lead, you'll mentor engineers, shape platform reliability, and influence how we scale cloud-native systems across a global compliance network.

More Specifically, You Will

• Mentor and coach SREs and infrastructure engineers, fostering a culture of rapid execution and continual learning.
• Partner closely with software engineering teams to define SLIs, SLOs, and operational standards that ensure production readiness.
• Lead the design, provisioning, scaling, and deployment of cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes clusters, on-premise VMs, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Advocate for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices and robust system observability, conducting peer reviews of deployment manifests and architecture proposals to maintain production-grade quality and security.
• Define and maintain infrastructure specifications, disaster recovery plans, and runbooks, coaching the team in their adoption.
• Integrate reliability practices, automated infrastructure testing, and streamlined incident response processes across the platform.
• Leverage AI tools to improve automation workflows, incident analysis, and infrastructure optimisation.

What You Bring to Sovos

• Equivalent of a Bachelor's degree through work experience, certificates, or formal education.
• You've built significant hands‑on experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, Systems Administration, or Cloud Infrastructure, with a track record of leading or mentoring teams within complex technical operations.
• Skilled in cloud-native systems architecture, high‑performance computing patterns, and troubleshooting complex distributed systems.
• Proficient in infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g. Terraform, CDK, Ansible), managing cloud environments (AWS), and on‑premise virtual machines.
• Strong experience developing reliable automation, orchestration, or custom tooling in Go, Python, Bash, or similar languages. Experience with Kubernetes and modern observability stacks (e.g. VictoriaMetrics, Prometheus, Grafana) is a strong plus.
• Strong understanding of networking, microservices architecture, and security best practices.
• Comfort with AI‑assisted workflows and tools that enhance infrastructure automation and reliability.
• Due to client contractual obligations, the successful candidate will be asked to clear a background check upon hire.
