Job summary

Aubay Portugal is hiring for a backend engineer to design and deliver REST APIs, own core feature architecture, and build robust data ingestion components. You will ship code frequently, ensure security and uptime, and contribute to a high-standard engineering culture.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in backend engineering, 3+ years with Python, strong distributed-systems knowledge, and experience across PostgreSQL/MySQL and cloud CI/CD pipelines. Hybrid work with two days in Porto is available.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in backend engineering.
• 3+ years with Python.
• Strong fundamentals in distributed systems (async processing, queues, retries).
• Proficiency in relational database modelling (PostgreSQL or MySQL).
• Experience in cloud environments (GCP/AWS/Azure) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Availability for hybrid work (Porto) and strong collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver customer-facing REST APIs with documentation.
• Own end-to-end architecture and implementation of core product features.
• Build and maintain robust data ingestion layers, including scraping/ parsing components.
• Ship code frequently, iterate based on performance and feedback, ensure security and uptime.
• Contribute to engineering culture with high standards for quality and ownership.
