Senior Platform Engineer – AWS, Terraform & Kafka

Job summary

Decskill seeks an experienced DevOps/Platform Engineer to strengthen our cloud and data platform capabilities from Lisbon offices. You will work with AWS and IaC, building scalable pipelines and modular infrastructure to support modern microservices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering or Data Platform Engineering roles.
• Strong hands-on expertise with AWS, including EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM and CloudWatch.
• Advanced experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), particularly Terraform; Terraspace is highly valued.
• Strong knowledge of cloud provisioning, deployment and automation using Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, Ansible and Helm.
• Experience designing, developing and maintaining reusable Terraform/IaC modules.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, preferably GitLab CI, or Jenkins/GitHub Actions.
• Solid knowledge of Git workflows, branching strategies, merge requests and code review practices.
• Programming/scripting experience with Python and/or Bash/Zsh for automation.
• Practical experience with Apache Kafka, including AVRO schemas and Schema Registry.
• Experience with AWS Lambda and/or AWS ECS Fargate architectures.
• Experience working with containerized applications and microservices.
• Ability to understand dependencies across complex platform components and assess the impact of infrastructure changes.
• Experience reviewing infrastructure and automation code and ensuring coding standards and platform stability.
• Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of technical solutions.

Requirements

• Practical experience with Apache Kafka, including cluster operations, topics, producers/consumers, AVRO schemas and Schema Registry.
• Experience with AWS Lambda and/or AWS ECS Fargate architectures.
• Experience working with containerized applications and microservices.
• Ability to understand dependencies across complex platform components and assess the impact of infrastructure changes.
• Experience reviewing infrastructure and automation code and ensuring coding standards and platform stability.
• Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of technical solutions.

Nice to have: experience with Confluent Cloud, Kafka connectors (source/sink), Snowflake, data platform infrastructure, SQL, relational/non-relational databases, data catalog/metadata management tools, and data contract standards such as ODCS. AWS certifications are also valued.
