BERD is a leading team in bridge construction tech, seeking a Senior Platform DevOps Engineer to own infrastructure, deployment, reliability, security and observability for a SaaS platform. The role combines software engineering with deep experience in Linux, cloud and container technologies in a senior, hands-on capacity.
You’ll work across AWS, bare-metal, Kubernetes, Terraform, Docker, and PostgreSQL environments to ensure high availability, performance and security.

JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for an experienced Senior Platform DevOps Engineer expertise to take technical ownership of the infrastructure, deployment, reliability, security, observability, and operational performance of our SaaS platform.
This is a senior, hands-on engineering role.
The successful candidate will have a strong software engineering background combined with deep experience in Linux, cloud infrastructure, bare-metal servers, AWS, networking, security, databases, containers, automation, Terraform, and Kubernetes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
PERFORMANCE ENGINEERING
A significant part of this role involves production performance optimisation.
You should be comfortable analysing and tuning:
You should be able to determine whether a performance issue originates from the application, runtime, operating system, database, encryption layer, storage, network, cloud platform, container platform, or underlying infrastructure.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Experience with database encryption, proxy, or data security technologies would be highly valuable.

THE ENGINEER WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for someone who enjoys solving real production problems and is comfortable moving between application code and infrastructure.
If an API becomes slow, a PostgreSQL connection pool is exhausted, an encrypted database connection is failing, a Kubernetes workload becomes unstable, a Node.js process consumes excessive memory, an Angular build fails, an AWS resource is misconfigured, a deployment breaks, or a server starts dropping connections, you should be comfortable investigating the problem across the entire stack until the root cause is understood and resolved.
