Nimber is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Mobile to own the mobile platform architecture and tooling across iOS and Android. You will lead the evolution of the React Native app, collaborating with multiple product teams to release features faster, more securely, and with improved DX/UX.

The role emphasizes technical leadership, native module integration, and AI-assisted development to empower engineers of varying experience. Porto or Lisbon locations, Portugal.

Senior Software Engineer, Mobile

Location: Porto or Lisbon, Portugal

About the Role

You will join the Frontend Platform team, which is responsible for the technological foundations of our mobile applications and web frontend development. In this role, you will take primary ownership of the mobile platform, leading the evolution of its architecture, tooling, infrastructure, and engineering practices across iOS and Android.

You will work closely with multiple product teams, helping engineers build and ship mobile features faster, more securely, and more efficiently.

Rather than focusing on a single product area, you will act as the technical authority for the mobile platform, creating the conditions for teams to deliver high-quality experiences through robust infrastructure, effective automation, and AI-assisted development.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, maintenance, and evolution of a React Native application for iOS and Android.
• Drive the evolution of the mobile architecture, tooling, dependencies, and development environments.
• Continuously improve the developer experience (DX), enabling product teams to build, test, and ship mobile features more efficiently.
• Maintain and integrate native modules, ensuring the reliability and maintainability of the platform.
• Improve the entire mobile development lifecycle, including testing, CI/CD, build and release processes, monitoring, and distribution through the App Store and Google Play.
• Collaborate with product teams on the design and implementation of mobile features, providing technical guidance and hands‑on support whenever needed.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to increase productivity, improve code quality, and enable engineers without extensive mobile development experience to contribute effectively.
• Analyse product usage data and delivery metrics to identify improvement opportunities and set priorities with measurable impact.
• Evaluate technologies and architectural approaches, making pragmatic decisions that balance developer experience, end-user experience, and long‑term technical sustainability.

Requirements

• Strong experience in mobile application development, with proficiency in React Native and TypeScript.
• In-depth knowledge of the React Native and Expo ecosystems, including architecture, tooling, and development workflows.
• Hands‑on experience maintaining and integrating native modules.
• Experience with mobile development infrastructure, automation, and engineering tools.
• Knowledge of the full mobile application lifecycle, including testing, CI/CD, build and release processes, monitoring, and distribution through the App Store and Google Play.
• Hands‑on experience using AI-assisted development tools, such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code, to improve productivity and code quality.
• Ability to identify opportunities to leverage AI to empower engineering teams and make mobile development more accessible to professionals with varying levels of experience.
• Strong focus on continuously improving both developer experience (DX) and end‑user experience (UX).
• Ability to work independently, take ownership, challenge established approaches, and make well‑informed technical decisions.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to share knowledge and support engineers across different teams.
• Curiosity, eagerness to learn, and a mindset focused on continuous improvement.
• Fluency in English.
