Nimber is seeking an Application Support Engineer to provide technical and functional support for critical applications, proactively managing incidents, and driving improvements. The role emphasizes automation, documentation, and close collaboration with development teams in a fast-paced hybrid environment in Porto.

You will participate in change management, assist with deployments, backups, monitoring, and capacity planning, and contribute to architecture discussions for new applications

Qualificações

• Minimum 3 years in similar roles.
• Strong Linux/Windows admin skills.
• Experience with industrial schedulers (BMC/Control-M).
• Scripting skills: Shell, Python or PowerShell.
• Experience with servers and databases (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL).
• Familiarity with monitoring tools (Zabbix, Grafana).
• Knowledge of LDAP, Firewall, Reverse proxy, AD and Kerberos.
• Knowledge of container-based infrastructure.
• Fluent English (minimum B2).

Position: DevOps Support Engineer

Location: Oporto - Hybrid

Job Summary

We are looking for an Application Support Engineer responsible for providing technical and functional support for critical applications, proactively managing incidents and identifying effective solutions for recurring issues. The role includes continuously improving and automating support procedures, maintaining up-to-date documentation, developing strong application knowledge, and ensuring regular follow-up with development activities and application changes.

Key Responsibilities

• Effectively manage and solve production incidents;
• Follow-up and coordinate changes and technical operations (electrical shutdown, servers mode, etc.);
• Participate in change management (applications and infrastructure), which involves collaborating with different teams such as development, sysadmin, DBA and networking;
• Keep documentation up to date: document the components and operations of the applications (architecture, procedures, supervision need);
• Manage backup data and ensure regular restoring tests;
• Monitor applications and infrastructure in an effective way, compliant with the established SLA for all business lines;
• Control load capacity for the applications;
• Participate on the system of on-call and off-hours interventions;
• Contribute consistently to the continuous automation and improvement of existing procedures;
• Work closely with the development teams on defining the architecture of new applications, according to the infrastructure standards.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of experience in similar roles;
• Good knowledge on both Linux and Windows environments and systems administration;
• Experience with BMC/Control-M or other industrial scheduler;
  Good knowledge of scripting languages (Shell, Python and/or PowerShell);
• Experience with JBoss, TomCat, Apache or IIS;
• Experience with databases (Oracle, Sybase, SQL Server and/or MySQL) and basic SQL knowledge;
• Experience with Infrastructure backups;
• Experience with monitoring tools (ideally Zabbix or Grafana);
• Knowledge of LDAP, Firewall, Reverse proxy, Active Directory and Kerberos;
• Knowledge on container-based infrastructure;
• Basic networking knowledge;
• Good level of English - minimum B2 (mandatory);
• DevOps mindset;
• Ability to keep up with a demanding and fast-paced environment;
• Willingness to learn and evolve;
• Good communication skills;
• Ability to work in a team.
