Nimber in Lisbon is seeking a Senior Java Developer with 9+ years of backend experience to design, build, and optimize robust services. You will work with Java, Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs, databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL), and modern CI/CD practices with Docker/Kubernetes.

Strong testing with JUnit/Mockito and TDD is expected. You will collaborate with product and engineering teams, produce clean code and documentation, and help shape scalable backend solutions in a hybrid Lisbon

• 9+ years of professional backend development experience in Java.

• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, PostgreSQL and MySQL.
• Hands-on with Docker and Kubernetes.

Position: Senior Java Developer
Location: Lisbon / Hybrid

Job Summary:

We are looking for a Senior Java Developer with at least 9 years of experience in backend application development to design, develop, and optimize robust, scalable, and secure software solutions. The role requires strong expertise in Java and Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs, databases, automated testing, and CI/CD practices, combined with a strong focus on code quality, technical documentation, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop robust, scalable, and secure backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Develop and maintain microservices and RESTful APIs following modern software architecture principles.
• Analyze existing code, identify performance bottlenecks, and implement optimization solutions.
• Apply development best practices, including TDD, Clean Code, design patterns, and CI/CD.
• Develop and maintain unit and integration tests using JUnit and Mockito.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure high standards of code quality.
• Collaborate with Product Owners and technical stakeholders to translate functional requirements into technical specifications.
• Produce clear and structured technical documentation.
• Provide technical guidance, support, and knowledge sharing when required.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and practices.

Requirements:

• Minimum 9 years of professional experience in Java backend development.
• Advanced knowledge of Java and Spring Boot.
• Strong experience with microservices architectures, REST APIs, and design patterns.
• Solid experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL and MySQL.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Proficiency with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and GitLab CI.
• Hands-on experience with JUnit and Mockito.
• Strong knowledge of TDD, Clean Code, and software development best practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to contribute to code reviews and provide technical guidance.
• French C1/C2 level, both written and spoken, is mandatory.
