Job summary

Neotalent Conclusion is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead and influence across multiple teams in a digital transformation program. You will drive mobile and full‑stack engineering excellence, setting technical direction and standards while collaborating with architects, tech leads and engineering squads.

You will champion modern patterns like API-first, Domain‑Driven Design and automated testing, while promoting AI‑driven development tools and secure, scalable software delivery.

Role Overview:

We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join our teams in a challenging digital transformation environment focused on delivering secure, scalable and high-quality software products.

In this role, you will act as a senior individual contributor with cross-team influence, combining deep full-stack engineering expertise with hands‑on technical leadership. You will work closely with architects, tech leads and engineering teams to drive engineering excellence, define mobile technology direction, promote AI‑enabled software delivery practices and establish reusable standards that improve predictability, quality and development efficiency across multiple teams.

What you will do:

• Define and drive the React Native technology roadmap, continuously improving mobile application performance, stability, security and release practices;
• Provide technical leadership across frontend, mobile, backend, APIs, integrations, cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines and production operations;
• Lead technical discovery activities, architecture reviews and engineering spikes for complex or high‑risk initiatives;
• Build reference implementations, reusable frameworks, templates and engineering accelerators that support consistent adoption of best practices;
• Promote AI‑assisted software development practices, helping teams adopt tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor or similar solutions with appropriate governance, validation and quality controls;
• Champion modern engineering principles including clean architecture, Domain‑Driven Design, automated testing, observability, trunk‑based development and infrastructure as code;
• Support teams in resolving critical production issues and complex cross‑system challenges involving mobile, backend, cloud and integration layers;
• Coach Tech Leads and engineering teams through design reviews, code reviews, technical workshops and collaborative problem‑solving sessions;
• Contribute to the adoption of API‑first, event‑driven and decoupled architecture patterns;
• Drive improvements in security, reliability, observability, resilience and cloud cost optimisation practices.

What you are like:

• Experienced in senior technical leadership roles such as Principal Engineer, Staff Engineer, Senior Tech Lead or equivalent individual contributor positions;
• Highly proficient in frontend and mobile technologies, particularly React Native, React and modern web architectures;
• Strong full‑stack engineering background covering frontend applications, backend services, APIs, integrations, databases, cloud platforms and operational excellence;
• Proficient in Microsoft Azure, containerisation technologies, Kubernetes, serverless architectures and infrastructure‑as‑code practices;
• Experienced in modern software delivery practices including Git, CI/CD, GitHub, Azure DevOps, Jira, SonarQube and automated testing frameworks;
• Strong knowledge of architecture patterns, including Domain‑Driven Design, API‑first architectures and event‑driven solutions;
• Demonstrated experience influencing multiple engineering teams without direct management responsibility;
• Hands‑on experience leveraging AI‑powered development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor or equivalent within software delivery lifecycles;
• Skilled in defining governance, validation frameworks and quality controls for AI‑generated software artefacts;
• Strong understanding of observability, security‑by‑design, resilience engineering and production operations;
• Experience working within complex enterprise environments with high standards for security, auditability, compliance and operational reliability;
• Previous exposure to financial services, banking, payments, credit solutions or other regulated industries is valued;
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence technical and non‑technical stakeholders through credibility and practical execution.
