Job summary

act digital is seeking an experienced Java backend engineer to design and deliver scalable Java backend solutions using modern engineering practices. You will participate in the full software delivery lifecycle from design through deployment and maintenance.

The role requires 7+ years of Java experience, proficiency with Spring Boot, Microservices, API design, REST and GraphQL, and strong Azure/Kubernetes/Docker skills. Join an Agile, self-organised team and mentor peers.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional experience with Java and modern Java versions (Java 17/21).
• Strong experience with Spring Boot and familiarity with Spring Cloud and Spring Data.
• Solid knowledge of Microservices, Web Services, SOA and API design.
• Experience with REST APIs and GraphQL Federation.
• Cloud experience with Azure.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and deliver scalable Java backend solutions using modern engineering practices.
• Participate across the full software delivery lifecycle from design to deployment and maintenance.
• Take ownership of code quality and technical solutions throughout their lifecycle.
• Design and implement microservices, APIs and distributed systems.
• Develop and maintain integrations using REST, GraphQL Federation and Kafka.
• Work with Azure Cloud, Kubernetes, Docker and Terraform to build cloud-native solutions.
• Diagnose and resolve production issues and implement sustainable fixes.
• Contribute to architecture and technical decision-making to ensure scalable solutions.
• Mentor and support other developers, sharing knowledge and best practices.
• Drive adoption of new technologies and engineering practices with measurable business value.
