Job summary

act digital is seeking an experienced Java backend engineer to design and deliver scalable Java backend solutions using modern engineering practices. You will participate in the full software delivery lifecycle from design through deployment and maintenance.

The role requires 7+ years of Java experience, proficiency with Spring Boot, Microservices, API design, REST and GraphQL, and strong Azure/Kubernetes/Docker skills. Join an Agile, self-organised team and mentor peers.

Qualifications

Job description

• 7+ years of professional experience with Java, with strong knowledge of modern Java versions, particularly Java 17 and 21.
• Strong experience with Spring Boot and familiarity with related Spring technologies such as Spring Cloud and Spring Data.

• Hands-on experience with Kafka and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker and Terraform.
• Experience with GitHub Actions and CI/CD practices.
• Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as OpenTelemetry, Dynatrace or equivalent.
• Experience with Gradle and modern software build practices.
• Strong knowledge of unit testing, integration testing and TDD.
• Experience with databases such as MongoDB and MySQL.
• Experience with JIRA, Confluence, Jenkins, Nexus or equivalent ALM/DevOps tools.
• Strong understanding of software architecture and design patterns, with the ability to build scalable and maintainable solutions.
• Experience working with Agile methodologies, including Scrum/Kanban, User Stories, BDD/TDD, DevOps, Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery and Pair Programming.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, from development through deployment, monitoring and maintenance.
• Fluency in English.
• Kotlin experience is considered a plus for some projects.
• Experience with e-commerce/retail and/or Product Information Management / Master Data Management platforms such as Stibo STEP is considered a plus.
