Jobgether is seeking a Senior Integration Engineer to design, build, and maintain complex backend integrations across modern software systems in a fully remote role based in Portugal. You will use Python and TypeScript to develop robust APIs and scalable integration services while collaborating with a distributed U.S.-based team.

The role values experience with GraphQL, Hasura, PostgreSQL and cloud platforms (GCP/AWS), emphasizing reliability, security, and performance.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Integration Engineer (Python & Typescript) based in Portugal.

This role is designed for a highly experienced backend engineer who can build and maintain complex integrations across modern software systems. You will use Python and TypeScript to develop robust APIs, integration services, and scalable backend solutions. The position offers an opportunity to work on technically challenging integration projects where reliability, interoperability, and clean architecture are critical. Experience within healthcare technology, particularly dental practice management systems, will be especially valuable. You will also have the opportunity to work with technologies such as GraphQL, Hasura, PostgreSQL, and major cloud platforms. The role requires strong technical autonomy, excellent problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to collaborate effectively with a distributed U.S.-based team. This is an opportunity to make a direct impact on integration architecture while working within a flexible remote environment.

Accountabilities

• Design, develop, and maintain complex backend integrations using Python and TypeScript.
• Build robust APIs and integration services that enable reliable communication between different applications and systems.
• Architect and implement scalable solutions for technically complex integration requirements.
• Develop, maintain, and optimize backend services with a strong focus on reliability, performance, maintainability, and security.
• Collaborate with engineering and product stakeholders to understand integration requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
• Troubleshoot integration issues, identify root causes, and implement durable solutions.
• Contribute to architectural and technical decisions involving APIs, data flows, and system interoperability.
• Work with modern technologies and cloud environments as required by project needs.
• Maintain effective collaboration with U.S.-based team members by providing at least 2–4 hours of daily working-hour overlap, ideally including West Coast hours.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional backend software engineering experience, with strong experience designing and implementing production‑grade systems.
• Advanced hands‑on experience with Python and TypeScript.
• Proven experience building complex APIs and system integrations across multiple applications or platforms.
• Strong backend engineering fundamentals, including software architecture, data handling, debugging, testing, and performance considerations.
• Experience with Dental Practice Management Systems (PMS) or healthcare technology integrations is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with GraphQL, Hasura, and PostgreSQL is highly valuable.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Amazon Web Services (AWS) is an advantage.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to independently investigate and resolve complex technical challenges.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, particularly when working with distributed engineering teams.
• Ability to work autonomously while remaining aligned with project objectives and technical standards.
• Availability to overlap at least 2–4 hours with U.S. working hours, preferably including West Coast time.
