Job summary

Jobgether is seeking a Senior Backend Developer (Go) based in Portugal to architect and build reliable, scalable backend systems for a high‑volume energy trading platform. You will leverage Go expertise to deliver low‑latency services in an AI‑assisted development environment.

You will translate complex requirements into precise technical tasks, review code with both human and AI agents, and promote test‑driven development, security, and performance.

Qualifications

• 10+ years backend development with system architecture responsibility.
• Proficiency in Go; production-grade backend design; Rust is a plus.
• Experience with high-throughput, low-latency systems and bottleneck diagnosis.
• Database schema design and query optimization expertise.
• Distributed systems, concurrency, and high-volume data processing.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and agentic workflows.
• Experience with TDD, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Security knowledge per OWASP and secure coding practices.
• Cloud-native infra: containers, Kubernetes, and service meshes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for architectural decisions.
• Excellent communication across cross-functional teams.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services prioritizing performance, reliability, maintainability, and security.
• Use AI-assisted tools to improve productivity and code quality.
• Translate business requirements into precise technical specifications and actionable tasks for AI and developers.
• Review PRs from humans and AI agents to ensure quality and architectural alignment.
• Collaborate with product managers, frontend developers, and other stakeholders to deliver functionality.
• Promote test-driven development and maintain automated test coverage within CI/CD workflows.
• Design and optimize database schemas across relational, key-value, and time-series stores.
• Apply secure coding practices and ensure compliance with security requirements.
• Monitor and optimize latency, throughput, and resource utilization for demanding workloads.
• Contribute to distributed system architecture and ensure reliability under high data volumes.
• Mentor engineers and share best practices across the team.
