Job summary

Shine ERP Engineering Team in Porto is seeking a Domain Engineer to define architecture direction, ensure engineering standards, and collaborate with senior engineers to align technical decisions with business goals.

This senior IC role focuses on cross-cutting impact, with half time embedded with engineering teams and half on architecture initiatives. We are modernizing our stack to address scale and domain complexity while enabling two remote workdays.

Qualifications

• Significant hands-on experience designing and evolving systems at scale.
• Experience with multi-tenant SaaS or platform environments.
• End-to-end architecture ownership and clear decision logging.
• Strong ability to translate technical trade-offs for product and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Own the target architecture of your domain and the path to get there.
• Ensure reliability, scalability, security, and compliance are design constraints from day one.
• Maintain architecture documentation (C4 diagrams, ADRs) as part of workflow.
• Set and calibrate design review thresholds, delegating to senior engineers.
• Spend roughly half time embedded with engineering teams, half on cross-engineering work.
• Grow architectural judgment of senior engineers to reduce reliance on you.
• Partner with Engineering Directors, Engineering Managers, and Product to surface constraints clearly.
