Job summary

InnoTech in Porto seeks a Senior Data Engineer to design and scale data pipelines using Azure Databricks and Synapse. You will build bronze, silver, and gold layers, integrating diverse data sources with a focus on quality and cost efficiency.

You bring 5+ years of experience in Python, PySpark, and SQL, plus hands-on Azure data services and data modeling. The role emphasizes collaboration, governance, and continual improvement within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years as a Data Engineer or similar.
• Strong proficiency in Python, PySpark, and SQL.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Databricks (mandatory), Synapse and data services.
• Familiarity with modern data architectures and data modeling.
• Experience with CI/CD, Git, and IaC tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and transformations.
• Create bronze, silver, and gold data layers from multiple sources.
• Ensure data quality, governance, and cost optimization.
• Collaborate with Data Architects, BAs, and stakeholders to translate requirements into solutions.
• Automate data workflows, testing, and deployments via CI/CD pipelines.

Your Mission Will Be

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and transformation processes using Azure Databricks and Azure Synapse;
• Build reusable and high-performance data solutions across bronze, silver, and gold layers, integrating structured and unstructured data from multiple sources;
• Ensure data quality, traceability, and compliance with governance and security standards while optimizing processing performance and costs;
• Collaborate with Data Architects, Business Analysts, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into efficient technical solutions;
• Implement automation for data workflows, testing, and deployments through CI/CD pipelines, promoting standardization and reusability.

You Will Need

• At least 5 years of professional experience as a Data Engineer, with strong expertise in Python, PySpark, and SQL;
• Hands-on experience with Azure Databricks (mandatory), Azure Synapse, Azure Data Lake Storage, and Azure Data Factory;
• Solid understanding of modern data architectures, data lifecycle management, and data modeling techniques, including Data Vault, Dimensional, and Entity-Relationship modeling;
• Experience with CI/CD practices, Git, Azure DevOps, and Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform, alongside knowledge of Agile and DevOps methodologies;
• CPLP nationality or an EU work permit is required to facilitate employment.

Would Be Awesome If You Have

• Experience integrating data from enterprise platforms such as SAP, Salesforce, and other external systems;
• Familiarity with data governance and metadata management tools, such as Microsoft Purview, Databricks Unity Catalog, or similar solutions;
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across data, IT, and business teams;
• A proactive mindset focused on documentation, standardization, continuous improvement, and the development of reusable data components;
• BSc or MSc in Computer Science/Engineering, Information Technology, or related fields.
