Location: Portugal – 100% Remote (Portugal-based candidates only)

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Business Analyst to join an international digital innovation project focused on developing an AI-enabled marketplace for analytical tools, datasets, models and knowledge resources.

The platform will enable a global community of specialists to discover, evaluate, compare and reuse digital and analytical resources more effectively.

This is not a traditional Business Analyst position. We are looking for someone who combines strong business analysis capabilities with a product mindset, hands‑on Agile delivery experience and a solid understanding of digital marketplaces, data catalogs or similar discovery platforms.

You will work closely with Product Owners, UX/UI Designers, developers and international stakeholders, contributing to both product definition and day‑to‑day delivery.

What You'll Be Doing

• Gather, analyse and translate business and user needs into clear functional and technical requirements.
• Define user journeys, product discovery experiences, information architecture and catalog structures.
• Create and maintain product backlogs, user stories, acceptance criteria and functional specifications.
• Coordinate sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews and delivery activities.
• Work closely with engineering teams to clarify requirements and support successful product releases.
• Define metadata models, content classification, governance and asset lifecycle processes.
• Specify requirements for AI‑assisted search, automated metadata generation and recommendation features.
• Define validation and acceptance criteria for AI‑generated outputs, including human‑in‑the‑loop processes.
• Facilitate stakeholder workshops, user interviews and requirements validation sessions.
• Collaborate with UX/UI teams on wireframes, prototypes and usability improvements.
• Support user acceptance testing and continuous product improvement.

What We’re Looking For

• 7+ years of professional experience as a Business Analyst, Product Owner or Product Manager delivering software products.
• Proven experience working on at least one digital marketplace, data catalog, registry, repository, package index or similar discovery platform.
• Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies and hands‑on experience managing product backlogs and sprint delivery.
• Experience defining requirements and acceptance criteria for AI/ML‑enabled features.
• Solid understanding of data modelling, metadata management, content lifecycle and information architecture.
• Familiarity with APIs, JSON/XML, relational databases and software development workflows.
• Experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence or similar tools.
• Ability to create low‑fidelity wireframes and collaborate with design teams.
• Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluent English, written and spoken.

Nice to Have

• Experience with open‑source ecosystems, scientific repositories or knowledge‑sharing platforms.
• Familiarity with knowledge graphs and AI‑assisted discovery.
• Experience bringing digital products from concept to first release.
• Experience with international organisations, research institutions or public‑interest technology projects.
