Job summary

Zego is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Portugal to build reliable Python microservices and scalable backend systems. You’ll own backend development, contribute to architecture decisions, and help drive engineering excellence across the team.

You'll work on cloud-native microservices, collaborate with product managers, and continuously improve code quality, testing, and performance while embracing AI-enhanced tools and fast-moving, customer-focused delivery.

Qualifications

• Strong backend development experience with Python microservices.
• Solid understanding of OO programming and data structures.
• Experience with cloud-native architectures and microservices.
• Ability to write clean, well-documented code and tests.
• Familiar with Git and CI/CD pipelines; strong debugging skills.
• Proactive, independent worker with good communication.
• Interest in AI technologies and productivity tooling.

Responsibilities

• Solve complex problems with reliable, well-tested software.
• Develop, test, deploy and own Python microservices delivering value.
• Collaborate with Engineers, Product Managers and cross-functional partners.
• Write clear, concise code following best practices.
• Contribute to code reviews and improve team code quality.
