Jobgether, on behalf of a partner company, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Backend - Data Streaming based in Portugal. This foundational backend role builds a new data streaming architecture from the ground up, focusing on a durable streaming layer and decoupled data access.

You will work in a remote-first environment with a small, high-ownership team, shaping architecture around consistency, durability, and scalability while collaborating with Product, Data Layer, QA, and SRE to deliver

Qualificações

• 7+ years of backend engineering experience, specializing in Java and distributed systems.
• Hands-on with S3/GCS/Azure object storage and durable upload/commit protocols.
• Experience with Kafka or similar streaming platforms.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems: consistency, durability, scalability.
• Proven track record leading multi-month engineering initiatives.
• Excellent communication in a remote-first environment.

Responsabilidades

• Design and build core streaming infrastructure decoupling data access from execution.
• Develop customer-facing data streaming capabilities for Kafka integrations.
• Redesign analytics data consumption at scale away from engine path.
• Make architectural decisions on consistency, durability, and data reliability.
• Lead medium-to-large engineering initiatives end-to-end.
• Translate product requirements into technical solutions with Product.
• Collaborate with Data Layer, Distributed Systems, QA, Support, and SRE.
• Participate in L3 support and on-call rotations.
• Contribute to engineering practices through code reviews and collaboration.
