Jobgether is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager based in Portugal to lead multiple engineering teams building AI‑powered data connectivity solutions. You will balance people leadership with technical engagement to drive reliable, scalable systems and foster continuous improvement.

You will develop senior engineers and emerging leaders, shape delivery practices, and manage priorities across teams while partnering with Product and cross‑functional stakeholders to align on objectives and success

Qualificações

• 8+ years of software engineering experience in enterprise or SaaS environments with strong technical competency and innovation.
• 4+ years of engineering management and/or people management experience with a track record of leading, coaching, and developing engineering teams.
• Experience leading multiple engineering teams or initiatives involving multiple teams and stakeholders.
• Ownership of execution and delivery including planning, prioritization, dependency management, risk identification, and continuous improvement of workflows.
• Experience partnering with senior Engineering and Product leadership on priorities, resource requirements, tradeoffs, and execution strategy.
• Experience owning production services, on-call operations, SLOs, incident response, and postmortems.
• Collaborative environment where engineers participate in discovery, requirements definition, and solutioning.
• Strong technical judgment to guide design decisions and empower engineers to own initiatives.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management across Engineering, Product, and cross-functional teams.
• Experience with cloud platform management and Azure, enabling scalable, high-performance systems and cloud-native deployments.
• Strong Java/Kotlin development experience and ability to guide backend services and microservices.
• Experience leading teams using AI-assisted development tools and workflows.
• Recent hands-on coding experience is preferred.
• Kubernetes experience and container orchestration familiarity are a plus.
• React framework experience is a plus.
• Experience designing microservice architectures for distributed systems.

Responsabilidades

• Lead and develop engineering teams through coaching, feedback, and performance management while fostering accountability and continuous learning.
• Develop senior engineers and emerging leaders by increasing leadership capacity and empowerment.
• Support hiring, onboarding, retention, and talent development in partnership with engineering leadership.
• Own execution and delivery across teams, ensuring priorities, ownership, dependencies, risks, and commitments are understood.
• Improve engineering operating practices, rhythms, planning, backlog readiness, and delivery metrics.
• Identify cross-team dependencies and systemic delivery issues, coordinating with leadership as needed.
• Communicate progress, risks, and resource needs clearly to leadership and stakeholders.
• Provide strong technical leadership ensuring alignment with architecture, quality, and reliability.
• Partner with engineers to evaluate approaches and ensure proper ownership of architecture decisions.
• Maintain hands-on engagement to guide complex engineering decisions.
• Establish and monitor SLOs and reliability measures, taking corrective action when needed.
