Job summary

Rumos Portugal seeks a senior software engineer to design and deploy AI agent-based workflows across the full SDLC. You will lead integration of AI agents, orchestration, MCP servers, and context engineering, while ensuring guardrails and quality controls for reliable outputs.

Key focus areas include CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and developer tooling, with strong Python/TypeScript skills and cloud experience in GCP or equivalent.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with technical leadership.
• Proven production experience developing AI agents including orchestration and evaluation mechanisms.
• Strong knowledge of Platform Engineering, DevOps, and CI/CD practices.

Job description

Role:

• Design and develop AI agent-based workflows, tools, and automation solutions across the entire software development lifecycle;
• Develop and integrate AI agents, including orchestration, tool usage, MCP servers, and context engineering;
• Implement evaluation mechanisms, guardrails, and quality control processes to ensure reliable agent outputs;
• Develop and optimize CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and developer tooling;
• Integrate AI-powered solutions with enterprise systems, including Jira, version control systems, and CI platforms;
• Improve the efficiency and reliability of engineering processes, as well as developer productivity and experience.

Profile:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field;
• At least 8 years of professional experience in software engineering, including experience in technical leadership roles;
• Proven experience in developing and deploying AI agents in production environments, including orchestration, MCP, and evaluation mechanisms;
• Strong knowledge of Platform Engineering, DevOps, and CI/CD;
• Proficiency in Python and TypeScript;
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (GCP or equivalent) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar tools);
• Experience in developing internal developer platforms, CLI tools, or workflow engines;
• Strong understanding of the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and practices aimed at improving engineering team productivity;
• Hands-on experience using AI agent-based coding tools in day-to-day software development;
• Knowledge of Kotlin, Go, or Rust is a plus;
• Experience with Cursor, Claude Code, or similar AI-powered development tools is a plus;
• Fluency in English;
• Excellent problem-solving skills, a strong sense of technical ownership, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
• Good communication skills and attention to detail.
