AdvanceWorks in Lisbon is seeking a Senior AI Engineer / AI Architect to driveAI initiatives across diverse industries. You will research, design and deploy AI-native architectures and LLM-based solutions, collaborating with data, software and business stakeholders.

You will shape production-ready AI platforms, agents and services, balancing security, governance, and cloud-native deployments across Azure, AWS and GCP.

Qualificações

• 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering, AI/ML Engineering, Data Science or related roles.
• Strong Python experience and familiarity with modern AI/ML frameworks and tooling.
• Experience working with LLMs, Generative AI, RAG, AI agents or other AI-native approaches.
• Experience designing or contributing to scalable software and/or AI architectures.
• Ability to work with data and understand the requirements of AI/ML datasets, evaluation and experimentation.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to different audiences.
• Fluent English, both written and spoken.

What will be your role

We are looking for a Senior AI Engineer / AI Architect to join our team in Lisbon and contribute to challenging AI initiatives across different industries and business contexts.

In this role, you may work across different stages of the AI lifecycle, from researching and experimenting with Machine Learning and NLP approaches to designing and integrating AI-native architectures, LLM-based solutions, agents and intelligent components into production environments.

You’ll work closely with engineering teams, architects, data professionals and business stakeholders, helping transform complex problems into scalable, secure and production-ready AI solutions.

Depending on the project, your responsibilities may include hands-on AI/ML engineering, software development, experimentation and model evaluation, as well as architectural decisions around AI platforms, agents, data, security, governance and cloud environments.

Your responsibilities will include

• Continuously exploring new AI technologies and approaches and assessing their practical value for real-world applications

What should you bring to the team

• 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering, AI/ML Engineering, Data Science or related roles
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience building production-grade solutions
• Hands-on experience with Machine Learning and/or NLP
• Strong Python experience and familiarity with modern AI/ML frameworks and tooling
• Experience working with LLMs, Generative AI, RAG, AI agents or other AI-native approaches
• Experience designing or contributing to scalable software and/or AI architectures
• Ability to work with data and understand the requirements of AI/ML datasets, evaluation and experimentation
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a practical and experimental mindset
• Ability to move from proof of concept and experimentation to reliable production solutions
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts and architectural decisions to different audiences
• Fluent English, both written and spoken

Nice to have

• Experience with RAG architectures, vector search and retrieval systems
• Experience with AI agent architectures and agent-to-agent communication patterns
• Familiarity with MCP and emerging AI integration standards
• Experience with AI security, governance, privacy or responsible AI practices
• Experience with observability and monitoring of AI/LLM systems
• Experience with model evaluation, experimentation frameworks and ML pipelines
• Experience working in regulated or highly governed environments
