AdvanceWorks in Lisbon is hiring a Full Stack Machine Learning Engineer to develop and improve AI/ML services for a leading European bank. You will build scalable ML solutions end‑to‑end, collaborating with Data Scientists, Software Engineers, DevOps, Architecture, and Platform teams to deploy production‑grade inference services and reusable frameworks.

Requirements include 5+ years in software/ML engineering, Python, REST APIs, and cloud experience.

Qualificações

• 5+ years of professional experience in software or ML engineering.
• Strong Python experience and data science libraries.
• Experience with REST APIs and microservices.
• Experience with SQL and Spark data processing.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and ML pipelines.
• Fluent Portuguese and ability to work in Lisbon hybrid model.

What will be your role

We are looking for a Full Stack Machine Learning Engineer to join our team in Lisbon and contribute to the development and continuous improvement of AI/ML services for a leading European bank.

This role is focused on building scalable machine learning solutions end to end, working closely with Data Scientists, Software Engineers, DevOps, Architecture, and Platform teams. You’ll contribute to everything from data collection and ML pipelines to the development and deployment of production‑grade inference services, while helping create reusable frameworks and solutions that accelerate the adoption of AI/ML across the organization.

Your responsibilities will include

• Working closely with Data Scientists to bring machine learning models and services into production;
• Designing and developing robust, scalable APIs for serving ML models;
• Contributing to end-to-end machine learning pipelines, from data collection strategies to model training, evaluation, and inference;
• Developing reusable frameworks and technical solutions that can be leveraged across projects and departments;
• Promoting the adoption of common frameworks and engineering practices to accelerate ML development at scale;
• Collaborating with DevOps, Software Architecture, and Platform teams to build and operate production‑grade ML solutions;
• Designing and implementing scalable services using microservices architectures;
• Contributing to code reviews, testing, CI/CD, and software engineering best practices;
• Troubleshooting production issues and continuously improving the performance, reliability, and scalability of ML services;
• Maintaining clear and comprehensive technical documentation;
• Taking ownership of technical solutions and proactively identifying opportunities for improvement;

What should you bring to the team

• 5+ years of professional experience in Software Engineering, Machine Learning Engineering, or a related field;
• Strong programming experience in at least one object-oriented language, preferably C# or Java;
• Solid experience with Python and common data science/ML libraries such as Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch;
• Good understanding of the machine learning lifecycle, from data preparation and training to evaluation, deployment, and monitoring;
• Experience developing REST APIs and/or gRPC/RPC services;
• Experience with SQL and data processing technologies such as Spark;
• Familiarity with streaming and messaging platforms, particularly Kafka;
• Experience with at least one data processing framework such as Spark, Beam, or Flink;
• Experience with at least one cloud platform, such as Azure, AWS, or GCP;
• Good understanding of software development practices, including unit testing, version control, build and release processes, and CI/CD;
• Passion for Machine Learning and AI;
• Availability to work in a hybrid model (3 days/week in Lisbon);
• Fluent Portuguese;

Nice to have

• Hands‑on experience with Azure and services such as Databricks, Cosmos DB, AKS, and Azure DevOps;
• Experience automating infrastructure and processes for training, evaluating, and deploying ML models;
• Previous experience in the financial or banking sector;
