Job summary

ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems in Portugal seeks a Senior Accountant to lead month-end closing, financial reporting, and balance sheet reconciliations within a multinational finance team. You will manage journal entries, ensure accuracy, and contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and compliance with local tax rules.

You will collaborate with local and regional stakeholders, drive process improvements, and support audits. This role offers growth opportunities in a dynamic environment based in Lisbon.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
• Certified Accountant (OCC) or working towards a professional accounting qualification is desirable.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting, auditing, or finance roles.
• Experience with Portuguese accounting standards, tax regulations, and statutory requirements.
• Experience in a multinational environment is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end closing processes.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience working with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics experience is a plus).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under deadlines.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluent Portuguese and English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities according to group reporting requirements.
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and provisions.
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of general ledger and financial statements.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and resolve outstanding items.
• Support monthly management reporting and financial analysis.
• Assist budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Ensure compliance with Portuguese accounting, tax, and statutory reporting requirements.
• Coordinate and support internal and external audits.
• Prepare VAT, Intrastat, and other regulatory filings.
• Monitor internal controls and ensure adherence to group policies.
