Job summary

Globeducate International Schools in Cascais is seeking a reliable Kitchen Assistant to join the school catering team. You will assist with food preparation, service, cleaning and general kitchen operations while maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety.

The role requires good teamwork, and a good level of Portuguese and English. A permanent, full-time contract is offered with benefits including free school lunch on campus.

Qualifications

• Previous kitchen or catering experience is desirable.
• Knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen safety.
• Good organisational skills and ability to work in a busy environment.
• Good level of Portuguese and English.
• Reliable, punctual and committed to cleanliness.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of food and ingredients under the direction of the kitchen team.
• Support the preparation and service of meals for students and staff.
• Wash, peel, chop and prepare ingredients as required.
• Assist with setting up and maintaining food service areas.
• Ensure food is handled, stored and prepared safely and in accordance with food hygiene and safety procedures.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen, food preparation and service areas.
• Wash and sanitise kitchen equipment, utensils, dishes and work surfaces.
• Assist with receiving, checking and storing food deliveries and supplies.
• Support stock rotation and ensure food is stored appropriately to minimise waste.
• Follow procedures relating to food allergies, dietary requirements and special meal arrangements.
