Mercor is seeking a meticulous native Japanese speaker to join our data annotation team. You will annotate structure, transcribe content exactly in Japanese (including kanji, kana and furigana), and ensure reading order accuracy on diverse documents.

You will work under supervision of a second Japanese expert, reviewing and flagging illegible regions, and capturing page metadata to support high-quality training data for document AI.

Qualificações

• Native Japanese speaker with full command of kanji, hiragana and katakana, including furigana
• Experience in interpretation, transcription, translation or editorial work
• Character-level accuracy is essential and handling diverse layouts requires rigor

Responsabilidades

• Open and check a task: ensure page is in Japanese, legible, has real content and no personal details
• Annotate structure: bound every meaningful region and assign component type and reading-order index
• Record relationships: link regions to the parent figure/table via identifiers
• Transcribe faithfully: reproduce all text exactly as it appears in Japanese script including furigana
• Capture page metadata: language, document type, source, page dimensions, and flags for tables, formulas and handwriting
• Review a colleague's work: second Japanese expert reviews each task
