Job summary

Intermedia Intelligent Communications is seeking an experienced Backend Engineer to design and build scalable backend services and APIs for our Agent Studio platform. You will collaborate with frontend, AI/ML, product, UX, and platform teams to deliver robust configurations, orchestration, and deployment capabilities.

The role emphasizes scalable architectures, performance, security, and reliability, with remote work flexibility and occasional in-person collaboration at our Portuguese offices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 4–7 years of professional software engineering experience, with demonstrated backend experience.
• Strong proficiency in one or more backend programming languages and frameworks.
• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs, microservices, or other service-oriented applications.
• Cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure and cloud-native application architectures.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases and building scalable production apps.
• Experience integrating applications with internal and external APIs, services, and data sources.
• Knowledge of monitoring, logging, observability, and production support practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs.
• Build capabilities that enable users to create, configure, test and deploy.
• Collaborate with frontend, AI/ML, product, UX, and platform teams to deliver backend capabilities.
• Develop mechanisms for configurations, versions, state, tools, permissions, and runtime components.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across backend services, workflows, and integrations.
• Implement authentication, authorization, permissions, and secure access to tools and data.
• Ensure scalability, reliability, performance, and observability across services.
• Participate in code and design reviews and contribute to engineering best practices.
