Job summary

The University of Porto invites applications for an entry-level PhD researcher within the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering. The role focuses on monitoring and forecasting ship emissions and mitigating their climate, ecosystem, and health impacts under the SHIPSUSTAIR project.

The position lasts 12 months and may include teaching/training duties. Competitive remuneration is provided for a temporary contract, with allowances applicable to public employment relationships.

Qualifications

• PhD in Environmental Engineering or related field (max 5 years since award).
• Experience with calculation of atmospheric emissions from ships and dispersion in the atmosphere.
• Lead authorship of scientific articles in English in international journals (Web of Science/Scopus).

Responsibilities

• Carry out R&D activities within Project SHIPSUSTAIR in environmental engineering.
• Contribute to future ship emissions inventory, and emissions and health impact assessments.
• Engage in potential teaching/training activities related to the project.
