Job summary

FEUP – Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto invites applications for an Entry-Level PhD Researcher in Environmental Engineering, focusing on monitoring and forecasting ship emissions within Project SHIPSUSTAIR. The position is 12 months, with a base gross monthly remuneration of €2,408.11 under an exclusive dedication regime.

Workplace is at FEUP's Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, Porto, with possible other locations for training.

Qualifications

• PhD in Environmental Engineering or related field awarded within last 5 years.
• Proven track record with first-author publications in English in ISI/Scopus journals.
• Experience calculating ship emissions and their atmospheric dispersion.
• Ability to perform R&D tasks across multiple project activities.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to tasks forecasting future ship emissions inventory.
• Assess greenhouse gas emissions and air quality impacts.
• Quantify health and ecosystem impacts of ship emissions.
• Estimate costs of implementing mitigation measures.
• Manage and disseminate project results; assist teaching as needed.
