Job summary

Hovione, a global CDMO, seeks a specialist in modelling and PAT to advance process analytical tools for Drug Substance and Drug Product development. The role requires delivering mechanistic insights, validating tools on manufacturing assets, and driving innovation across GMP environments.

You will work in a collaborative team to expand IP and technology portfolios while ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards in a fast-paced pharmaceutical setting in Portugal.

Qualifications

• University qualification in Engineering or a scientific field (mandatory), preferably with a PhD.
• Typically requires 3–5 years of relevant experience in a production environment, preferably within the pharmaceutical industry.
• Strong understanding of process modelling, simulation principles, PAT and statistical tools (including chemometrics).
• Fluency in English is a requirement.
• Computer literate with good working knowledge of MS Office and relevant modeling software (Python, Matlab, Simca, JMP).

Responsibilities

• Suggests, develops and implements process analytical tools to boost company efficiency in Drug Substance, Drug Product Intermediate and Drug Product.
• Oversees and qualifies the implementation of these tools in manufacturing assets in compliance with Quality, HSE and cGMP policies.
• Promotes scientific excellence and innovation in Modelling and PAT; contributes to IP and technology portfolios.
• Provide technical support (process analytical and statistical) in projects, ensuring customer satisfaction and achievement of objectives.
• Participate in Technology Transfer and scale-up of projects to Pilot Plant and Manufacturing Areas.
• Design and develop batch and continuous manufacturing processes; write RD and GMP reports.
• Promote best practices, innovation and knowledge sharing; present at conferences and identify patent/publication opportunities.
• Ensure tasks are planned and delivered safely, efficiently, on time and within cost constraints.
• Gather data to inform decisions on complex issues; comply with GMP/HSE guidelines and COPs/SOPs.
