Job summary

Hovione in Portugal is seeking an experienced maintenance technician focused on instrumentation, electrical and automation systems. You will diagnose faults, perform preventive and corrective maintenance, and ensure calibration traceability in GMP environments.

You will read P&IDs and loop diagrams, supervise contractor work, document in CMMS (SAP PM), participate in risk assessments, and support continuous improvement and HSE programs while mentoring junior colleagues.

Qualifications

• Technical course qualification in Instrumentation, Electronics, Automation or Electrical.
• Experience in industrial maintenance, with hands-on instrumentation troubleshooting.
• Understanding of calibration principles (tolerances, uncertainty, traceability).
• Ability to read P&IDs, electrical and loop diagrams, and equipment documentation.
• Experience in pharma, chemical, oil&gas or food industry.
• Experience managing or supervising contractors.
• Familiarity with BMS/EMS, PLC/SCADA.
• Experience with SAP PM or another CMMS.
• Exposure to cleanroom/HVAC instrumentation.
• Availability to work on shifts.

Responsibilities

• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance and troubleshooting of instrumentation, electrical and control equipment.
• Diagnose faults in measurement loops and restore equipment to service quickly and safely.
• Review and verify calibrations, check certificates against criteria and traceability.
• Supervise and verify the quality of maintenance work by contractors on site.
• Record all work accurately in the CMMS (SAP PM) and GMP documentation.
• Take part in work-permit risk assessments and ensure safe execution.
• Support investigation of deviations and CAPAs related to the area.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and Quality and HSE programmes.
• Act as first-line troubleshooter for instrumentation issues.
• Share know-how and support training of junior team members.
